  • nice job making the correct call and playing it safe when it comes to winter camping you just never know what could happen the cold and wind

  • It would have been fun to do the whole thing, @hadd13, but it just wasn't in the cards. Thanks for the comment.

  • Great video guys enjoyed joining in on your hike. Hope to see more. 5/5

  • Thanks for the comment, solobackpacking.

  • I have the same pack, tent, snowshoes...

I had the same problem as you guys concerning navigation, especially after a snow fall.

I solved it via a small topo map capable gps which I can load with trails. It's amazing the time I saved and the confidence level I had with it as opposed to guessing. Use energizer lithium batteries in cold weather. Avoid magellen gps.

Thanks for the deadman, I keep forgetting that technique.

  • Luke, I'd like to put together a full gear and food list for posterity but haven't gotten around to it yet, sorry.

outside365 - Thanks for the comments. Matt and I were both carrying very light loads so the load-lifter straps were unecessary.

  • Great trip video. Looks like it was a beautiful snowshoe trip! Were the untightened load lift straps intentional or an oversight? I see that so often.

  • I'd love to hear a complete gear list and food list for what you guys took on the trip. Thumbs up on the video and the trip.
