I had the same problem as you guys concerning navigation, especially after a snow fall.
I solved it via a small topo map capable gps which I can load with trails. It's amazing the time I saved and the confidence level I had with it as opposed to guessing. Use energizer lithium batteries in cold weather. Avoid magellen gps.
Thanks for the deadman, I keep forgetting that technique.
Great trip video. Looks like it was a beautiful snowshoe trip! Were the untightened load lift straps intentional or an oversight? I see that so often.
nice job making the correct call and playing it safe when it comes to winter camping you just never know what could happen the cold and wind

It would have been fun to do the whole thing, @hadd13, but it just wasn't in the cards. Thanks for the comment.

Luke, I'd like to put together a full gear and food list for posterity but haven't gotten around to it yet, sorry.
outside365 - Thanks for the comments. Matt and I were both carrying very light loads so the load-lifter straps were unecessary.

I'd love to hear a complete gear list and food list for what you guys took on the trip. Thumbs up on the video and the trip.
