  • amazing!

  • Well i thought it was awesome!!!

  • lol.... had to mod to play heel/toe better. Pathetic. I use Heel/toe on short boards with basketball shoes on. If you can do it properly, you can do it in any scenario. You're only cheating yourself. The way you re-positioned your foot :48 is the way to do it on short boards, bouncing your heel off the floor or butt of the pedal. Not hard at all.

  • people you do not need long boards. It should not be called "heel toe". That is what confuses people. It should be called "ball of foot and toe" technique. too many people feel you need to slam your heel and then your toe. There are many "proper" videos on you tube that will show you how to do it without a long footboard. Even with big feet. I used to think the same thing. Now I can play heel toe on any pedal. I am not trying to sound like a "know it all". Check it out.

  • I need long boards. My feet are too huge!

  • Damn sucks for u guy with dixons I have 700 axis

  • @DaFuckinSchwartz ... Cool statement, any other condesendingly useless information you'd like to share on this informational video Schwartz?

  • this is awesome man but i can do heel toe in shoes easily....thats just the way i learned...and i have shitty 200 dollar dixon pedals

  • cool mod but it makes you look like a wimp cause you have to use long boards for the heel toe it works just as well in any shoe and on any pedal

  • @DSDrummer15 I give you props if you can do it in shoes at all. I have to have them off. True, it can be done on any pedal. But the true "heel on pedal" method can put the chain in between you toes if you have large feet.

  • @chrisfairbanks it came easy for me but i have been playing drums for 10 years and i also play in converse pro drumming hi tops special ordered for me i suggest removing the mod until you build up the ability to play in shoes also try a rolling your feet whilst walking making sure to lift your toes as high as you can to build muscle for speed and control but keep practicing and you'll get better

  • not bad for a home made longboard.... but i despise tama.... AXIS!!!!!!!!

  • @severedties24 i didn't like the tiny hard to reach wing nuts and all the different size allen wrenches. i think i could have put up with it if not for the $600 pricetag, though.

  • tht was nice

  • daaaayum

  • hahaha, thats soo cool! homemade longboards

  • @chrisfairbanks everything

  • soungs good, even on camera mike

  • So, I find it interesting that heel-toe technique, when slid back on the pedal, doesn't really involve the heel, but is more about the toes, and that area right behind where your toes meet your foot.

  • omf i want this

  • since im a new 2 the whole drummin experience...um wats the difference b/t diz and leavin the pedal normal???

  • @iRhDhLh863 adding a piece of steel to the footboard, kinda converts a normal pedal to a longboard. for people with bigger feet or for people who are learning the heel toe method it makes it heaps easier to learn the motion if you have a longer footboard

  • im learning this....only size 9 :)

  • this is y i hate having size 14 feet.... and growing >_<

  • too me, its easier with the normal size pedal for the heel toe teqnuiqe

  • isn't tama pronounced with a long a not a short?

  • you know you aren't actually supposed to hit it with your heel lol, its only named that because it has a rocking motion that looks like you are hitting it with your heel then toe. its the motion that gets it to hit the drum head, not that you actually hit it with your heel.

  • @ZildjianL4D2 were they double stroke?

  • hey dude...how did you customize your pedals?

  • do you know how I could repair my double bass I broke one of my chains?

  • fuck yea !

  • how much was your petalss ????i wuz flying on some tama cobas at guitar center.....i cant fly on my shitty pdps .....llol :(

  • how long did it take you to get the technique that tight? im thinking about modifying my pedals!

  • hey what's your shoe size?

  • Comment removed

  • @chrisfairbanks One size bigger than me. Take into consideration I'm 13. lol

  • @chrisfairbanks im shoe size 11 and im almost 12 o:

  • hey what shoe size do you wear? just wondering if it will be big enough for me

  • damn you're fuckin awesome man

  • now i know how people do it sooo fast! i couldnt believe how fast people did it but now i know :)

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that was sic

  • @guitar112796 6(sic)6 lol

  • Gotta love the iron cobra jr bro haha.... no joke by far my favorite pedal i played my friends DW and i liked my tama way better.

  • danm thats cool

  • dude you are a genius

  • Best part 0:50

    Very well done and even

  • hey after modifing these pedals if u decide u dont like it can u change it back to how it was before

  • yeah, just save all the hardware you unscrew off the pedal

  • Those pedals are freakin ugly

  • your good man! ive been wanting to modify my dw9000 can u gve me some tips? im about to go watch your other videos! thanks for being awesome!

  • this is beautiful!

    it really is!

so clean and so on time and perfect!

Can you do this mod with a Dw7000 as well?

  • i've been working on perfecting heeltoe, & this is gorgeous!

it's insane to get roll drill with your feet, i'd love to know what exactly you did to your pedal w/that steel bar

  • I didn't quite get that, do you have 2 pedals? =/ sry.

  • I'm 19 and I'm really thinking about playing drums cause my bro plays some good guitar and that i love playing drums on guitar hero on expert plus. but seeing this makes me worry since i want to play some fast double bass music, but of course ill have to work up to it.

  • thats good.

  • nice man . very good idea with the extra peice of steel on the petal.

  • dude ive just started drums with my band. and im like a beginer cos i used to play guitar for em but our drummer was terrible at commitement....anyway long story. short part is i need to know how to double bass. any tips on how to do it or how to set up cos i can do it with my ankles but not for very long only quick bursts

  • @samgallagher15 make sure ur sitting up straight and start slow. just do it at whatever speed u can do it continually at, and keep goin. then speed it up slowly.

  • @damnitsht thanks ill do that :)

  • @samgallagher15 thats what she said

  • nice solid real right on. but how the hell did you do that to those pedals i have that same one as a single and some iron cobras from tama

  • pretty good. :)

  • the heal-toe is very easy!! but my probleme it's that i have a shorter pedal!! i can put the back of my foot on the extreme of pedal!!! what can i do??

  • that was sick. Im afraid to mod my pedal though....

  • heel toe = easy to learn, even on a regular pedal when your feets got like size 14.

i owned the technique in about a few minutes

  • oh do you do it? i know its like bump bump

but when i do it i have like stops in between like bump bump..... bump bump

  • @flowerpotproductions

drop your feet randomly on the pedal, slightly change the angel to the heels, when u hit the bassdrum u quickly put preasure on your toes. i hope this explaination is right:p

  • omg! wow it actually worked!!!

    Thanks~ ;]

  • @flowerpotproductions that's because it's ex. Right heel, Right toe, Left heel, Left toe, repeat. that's how u get the even constant beat.

  • hey u should do a cover of the legend of the rent

  • hey would this idea work on a pdp double bass pedal

  • y6eah i can see whare your cumin from weith the long bords but tbh i find i can do it just ass well and just as fast .. well faster than that but yeah even with my heal on the floor.. but hey i gess thats no longer heal toe more like um arch toe.. haha

  • sooo much easier

  • Is it really easier to drum without shoes?

  • no its better with shoes on trust me

  • It's down to personal preference. Alot of drummers I know prefer to wear shoes with very thin soles. I prefer to drum completely bare foot ever since I started. Most people wear shoes, but there are alot who choose to go bare foot. The only thing I'd say it wearing only socks is very hard due to lack of grip. Bare foot gets more feel, but is probably hard to deliver power too if you're not used too it. Where as me wearing shoes makes me feel over dressed and decreases my endurance/technique etc.

  • COVERSE ALLSTAR!!! drum in those... i just started wearing those for drumming and it feels really good.

  • @dreadss64 it can be, it really depends on how flat your shoes are, the flatter they are i find it harder to do heel toe

  • cool :)

  • Even though there are two bass things on that one pedal, do u still have to use both feet? And if not then what's that little axel connecting the high top and the bass?

Plz reply I need to know

  • @MnM3033 Yeah its a double pedal. It has 2 pedals connected with a bar.

  • @MnM3033 yeah the bar between the pedal on the bass and the pedal in the background are connected by a bar.

  • you can use either foot, even just the left if you want to

  • yeah you use both feet. the axle conects to another pedal.. did you honistly not know that?

  • how were you going that fast when you were not even moving your feet that fast! please reply

  • heel toe, "double tapping"

  • @Goryskates You're just envious!

  • heel toe is for the weak lol

  • you,you´re dumb shut up

  • can you go to like 250 bpm with this technique? cause i'm getting interested!

  • yes! but you can also do heel-toe on shortboards as well.

  • @TheRevJr1 yea, i've seen a video on that but i experienced it as really hard. maybe you can explain me?

  • Can do! I'll upload a video within the next week or two explaining how to do the technique.

  • @Psychosocial23 how is it cheating, its a technique, so you still have to put effort into learning it.

  • dude its awesome nice update there XD

    cool

  • I do heel toe like that too

  • I have a mapex m birch right now , So i got the p550a single pedal , and im able to do the heel toe on that , any idea if i would be able to do it on the cobras ? Shoe size - 9.5.

    Thanks :D

  • I need some good suggestion :) I wanna buy a double bass pedal , Should i buy Mapex P580A 2009 series or the Junior Iron Cobra ? Or should i just wait for a long time and buy the iron cobras ? Need some good suggestions :)

    Thanks :)

  • With iron cobra you cant do heel toe, the pedal is just small it's like a shoe size "10" (u.s) to do what hes doing you need "Long Board" pedals. Most commonly the Axis pedals that are just awesome!! but you can buy the cobras and mod it that way like a long board :P

  • yes you can do a heel-toe type of technique on the Iron Cobra. you just have to find out where on the pedal to do it, and of how to do it. I upload a video within the next week of how to do this.

  • I got Peral DOuble Bass Pedals Would the this work on mine too? Answer ASAP. Thinking bout MOding mine too! aWESOME Vid btw

  • It would probably help to spell Pearl right, haha. :P

  • hey guys im gettin a new bass pedal soon and i think i wanna go with the destroyer pedals r those good. please reply back.

  • ur sick dude for real

  • What size is ur foot?

  • 10.5

  • well i like that technique, but not all double pedals are capable of making double stroke kick

  • lol gp hi hat stand

  • nice u mastered that technique well

  • Tutorial!!!!! I HAVE to know hoe to flutter!!!!!

  • great !

  • very nice i like

  • is that an iron cobra jr.? can you tell me how you did that to modify it

  • damn i wish i could play 32dns that good with my hands in marching band

  • i use pearl demon drive in longbord setting, its like the pedal isn't even there

  • very clean hits how long have you been play heel toe

  • about a year

  • @guitar77809 im not sure but it sounds like an electrical kit because all cymbal and snare sounds sound the same and he might use an acoustic bass drum perphaps with them

  • it's not an electric kit. crumby microphone plus the bass drum i used was the pearl rhythm traveler. it's tiny and low end. i figured the hits would be clearer on the recording.

  • @chrisfairbanks ohh i see... my teacher does the same too :)

  • awsome

  • just save up and buy axis, trick, pearl deamon drive, or the new dw 8000's with the power plates (longboards)

  • wooooooow

  • i might have to buy some iron cobra flexi glide pedals and mod um like these :P

  • hes not even using iron cobras

  • i know but iron cobras are also made by tama

  • holy shit dude. thats so awesome!

i do normal double bass. i wanna try that tho.

omg. im all excited now. fuck

  • Q .i tried heel toe on my PDP pedals and it's freakin hard. is it the pedal or is it like me??????

  • probably the pedal i cant heel toe on my SP double its not a long board pedal its alot harder

  • Well I am an expert of any sort but from the tutorial vids, it appears that having a long-board drum pedal helps alot.

  • heel toe is achievable with any pedal, as long as you get the technique right. its also about the settings on your pedal. iwas using a gibraltar pedal with a really light beater and really tight spring, i recently got a dw 9000 double pedal and it has a heavier and powerful-er strike. but if you sert your pedal up tight, you can do it.

  • i beg to differ. my pedal (yes, single) is too short.

  • on the DW 9000's, with the springs being on the inside, it means you have to have you foot lower down the pedal and i can still do heel-toe very easily

  • well i have a crappy pedal from my crappy Pulse set.

  • lol, i could probably do it on that, sorry if i sound big-headed i dont mean to be

  • haha i see. well im not a very experienced drummer, so..idk. haha

  • I find that if you move the front of your foot to the right of the pedal and move it up, you can heel toe pretty well

  • that makes it like an axis pedal..

  • dude that was sick

  • ur sick in a good way

  • how much did it cost to make those? and would it work with a taye standart double

  • NICE VID!!!!!!! Bettter than me

  • wow i never believed that that construction would work that good...nice man

  • that was siiiick teech me pl0x

  • clean style...

  • size 13 makes heel toe pretty tough on regular pedals but its not that bad....... a long board would help a ton for feet like min

  • /agree

  • ghetto long board

  • Well done but I'd suggest that you attach the pedal closer to the head if you can so that the beaters dont go so far over the axis line and your motion will become smaller and therefore faster, more responsive.

  • heel toe makes the second hit sound dead

  • Such a cool idea, even if I do think longboards are overrated... that after having gone and paid for one... they do make heel-toe easier though... even though I stopped using heel-toe... I'm good at wasting money : )

  • dude thats pretty sick!! chect out my videos

  • hey thats the technique i use

  • Im probably gonna go for some Pearl Eliminators (The old ones)

  • are the mallets weighted?

  • Lol, This should be easy for me, my size 8 feet makes it easy for me to do Heel-Toe.

Now I just need a double Pedal, Any recommendations?

  • DW 7000. I love my 7000's.

  • thats what i got...

  • iron cobra, or if you're on a budget, iron cobra jrs

  • gibraltar 3311 double bass pedals cheap price good for beginners for double bass!price:115$

  • is it easier to heel-toe with smaller feet or bigger feet?? cause i am a size 11.5! O.o

  • Smaller feet tends to be easier.

  • easier with small me thinks... i'm size 12 and its practically impossible with the pedals i have......thats why that nippy invention he has is so good....

  • well I'm the same size as you dude and able to do it. Instead of putting you heel down when you play heel-toe, keep your heel up. I hope you understand wat i mean.

  • your beaters are going too far past vertical, in other words your bass drum is too far from the beaters, if you setup your pedal so it is closer, you will get a better sound and have to push less to hit the bass drum

  • how do u get so much rebound off ur bass head?

  • man you need practice XD

  • bull shit. dude that pedal is insane.

  • thats awesome

  • Nice!

  • Screw you!!! LOL At least make it LOOK hard to do! LOL That was great!

  • That was cool. Nice!

  • wow great feel!

  • is this easier than with standard size, my feet are size 12 so pretty big, and would it work on a pearl pedal?

  • hey dude, id mod it a differnt way then this guy, hes on the right track but there are a few things..im making my own on a pearl 80 dallar piece of crap and it made it a shit load easier for me (who also has size 12 feet) so yah it be workin fine

  • what is the make and size of that drum?

    What Batter Head?
