Ok, I'll try to explain it as simply as possibly. The good guys are the exocists. They are trying to find Innocence, a material of god. With it they will stop the Millenium Earl, who wants to destroy all humans. He creates akuma which are living weapons with a soul embedded in them. It is the job of the exocists to take care of the akuma. The story mostly revovles around Allen Walker, and exorcist.

Well, that's my version of the plot. Sorry if it's not very good.
