  • Beautifull!!!

  • First song is about Canakkale ! The Turkish song about the war of independence in Canakkale.

  • Great video !

  • Thankyou for your wonderful presentation of such wonderful music treasures!!!!

  • The whole Balkan is Ottomanic after 500 years of devşirme... Just wonder what music would have been made if Balkans and Anatolian peninsula weren't conquered by Ottomans.

  • The Balkan would have been a beautyful, prosperous place if those retarded Barbars wouldnt have ruined it for 400 years...

  • i am very pleased to hear these songs. these looks like treasures for me. t y v m romeikos for sharing these... as a Turk i am giving my respect to you for your efforts. and looking for more :)

  • Wonderful TIME!!!!

  • Ευχαριστώ και Çok teşekkürler. romeikos2 may you long continue on this path to greater understanding through the preservation and circulation of these treasures.

  • Friendship 4ever)))with best wishes from Baku))

  • turks are the balls and the greeks are the dick. with one of theirs absence there can not be a sex.

  • WHAT A GREAT TIME BETWEEN TWO FOLKS !!!!!!!!!!!

  • you know, it is really sad that some groups of people create "prejudices" between turks and greeks, but the fact is that turks and greeks have sooo much in common. i really like and appreciate greek culture, food, music and greek people's characteristics. Love from Turkey!

  • @silverdjinn

we have so much in common because we were 400 years slaves!!!!!

  • @tinibeeny82 now that was not the type of answer i was expecting from a greek like yourself. We have to crush down the prejudices between our nations if we are to establish a mutually beneficial relationship and look forward to a more peaceful future.

  • both the Greek as Turks are a similar folk. a wise folk, and aware. not easily tricked into plans of masscontrol and confusion. eventhough the politics play low games everywhere, its the PEOPLE that decide. worldwars/ worldpeace; both created not on tv, but in teahouses, streets and neighbours. Greeks and Turks can live together in PERFECT HARMONY. Born neighbours. friends, and brothers. before the war we used to give and take brides woth eachother. THINK ..

  • Kalimerhaba

Its all politics guys Iam turkish and i have lots of greek friends good greek friends

eats same foods, our cultures almost same

Raki or ouzo, musakka or musakka, baklava or baklava, whats the different................

  • @senbulbirtane the diffrence is when them 2 have peace, the mason-imperialist cant get what they want; the red apple. the first coin of Istambul was on one side the greek spiritual leader, the other the sultan victor(fatih). dont y'all believe the hype,.. one love. everybody shut up ! just.. drink tea, and play tavla, life is short and what WE make of it.

  • Ne kadar doğalmış eskiden her şey, müziklerde öyle, sıcak ve samimi...

  • Interestingly the first song is about, Canakkale and Gallipoli Campaign, which happened around 1915 in WW I, between Turks and Greeks+British+Anzacs.. This song ,sung by some Ottoman Greek, is another good indication of how well these minorities were blended in Ottoman Empire, think about it, you are in the US, thousands of miles away from where you were born, you are a Greek singing a heroic Turkish song, about a war happened roughly about 10 years ago, between your country and your nation...

  • @metrogold Where did you hear/read that Greeks were figthing on the side of the British in Gallipoli? Can you please site your sources?

  • @turcoboshnak dude, people are ignotant. in turkish we say: let the dogs bark on, the caravan is going..

dont mind the ignorant, nor the future, the TRUTH about greece and turkey is they have worked out the model for worldpeace, and THATS why them basterds dont want Cyprus to become oNE.

  • There is nothing like "Ottoman Greek"... stop that crap, Turks just nostalgate that time because they repressed others and where the bosses themselves... its clear it was a perfect time for them. But Greeks and many others suffered a lot until they could finally get rid of that joke...

  • I loved her Turkish accent. Her accent is so cute :) Those days we were singing same songs and today we can again...

  • As I am listening to this and drinking my ouzo or raki, I am waving to the other side of the sea. Does it really matter whether I am Turkish or Greek?

  • Spoke like a true gentlemen. It doesn't matter whether you're Greek or Turkish, we are all brothers.

  • @zuzay73 no, but for many religions matters, and from religion come culture and etc...

  • Yaşasın halkların kardeşliği!

    Ζήτω η αδελφοσύνη των λαών!

    Vive la fraternité des peuples!

  • this wonderful genuine music is in our eastern dna.

cyprus turkey greece balkans - real people share the same hava - hardship and striggle make us brothers and sisters - our common music

expresses our pains and our common dream.

    peace to all friends.

  • It's funny how our countries create an atmosphere of war and small groups cause trouble, declaring national superiority, while our cultures have been fused together in so many ways.

It's always nice to see there are people on the other side of the Aegean who let the differences slide and enjoy the results of centuries' old traditions.

Thank you guys, may peace be with you. :)

  • Despite all the trouble between Greeks and Turks, we are brothers, and we have influenced eachother for the better

    Cheers

  • that is the "canakkale" song. :)

  • many thanks for sharing. It teaches us most things. Unfortunately there will be always racists in both sides. We shouldnt let them to poisoned our clean air with their ugly voices. with selam.

  • Beautifull!! love thiss music!!

  • thank you for this great record.

    who brings me raki :)

  • Turks and Greeks together until forever !! ευχαριστώ...teşekkürler

  • gorgeous walla ne diim :)

  • By that time the city also took its name Áγκυρα-Ànkyra (meaning Anchor in Greek) which is still used by the Turks with the slightly modified form of Ankara.

  • This is incredibily exciting. These are not regular songs, Canakkale for instance a ballad one of the most famous for the Dardanelles war, talking about the war. A Greek singing this means a lot, it shows Greeks as one of the native millets of the Empire were actually seeing themselves as Ottomans despide the general beliefs and fabricated stories to feed nationalism. English done a great job creating these hostility. Only difference beween Greeks and Turks is religion.

  • not important being turkish or greek.the important things is being human.everytime and everywhere...

  • No no no no

I do not agree with you :)

Being Turkish or Greek is something special...

    Either or or

    It is special :)

This first song is a very well known song in Turkey. It is song is about:

The gallipoli war of WW1. The second big war of Troy, where my people say it is the reverse of Hector :) There died 250000 Anzacs too. I hope we will never see it again...:)

  • nice song!!!

  • turks and greeks and connected irrespective of what happend in the past.

  • Owh God this is beautiful. More beautiful than the song is the Turkish Greek friendship. Turkey & Greece forever.

  • This is the main foundation of the rembetika!!!

    ZHITO H ELLAS!!!!

  • In the cafes and back streets of Athens and Thessaloniki Rembetika music, Greek Urban Blues, is being played and will have a powerful effect on the music and culture of Greece. The lyrics tell of the frustration of being poor in a strange land, and the sadness of exile as well as the misery of being reduced to a life of crime and drugs out of desperation and hopelessness.

  • Fuck off fucking albo

  • wtf im no albo, Im (gay)psy, a gypsy thats great! but thank you for fucking me mentally!

love & peace to forzafabby! i love youu......!

    :D

  • Perhaps these songs can end the ongoing debate as who copy from whom.

The Greeks from Turkey recorded in Turkish many songs because that was their 'native' language at that time (1920).

Therefore, what the Turks have today was recorded by the Greek refugies in both Greek and Turkish, in New York City USA and not in Athens or Ankara.

Enjoy the lively music.. in PEACE!!!!

  • wow... i am very impressed. How did you find those records?

It's so interesting. I mean people go to America and record Turkish songs although they are GREEK :D THat's what you call multicultural, right?

  • βλακας ...

  • it's for the guy who want take Constantinopolis ... ISTANBUL ... sorry man, the byzantine empire is dead, greeks don't need to take Constantinopolis for be good people; there better in peace than in war. you loose the war, that's all, but if you really want a war, take arms and go ! go alone for walk on Istanbul ! good luck !

    βλακας ...

  • you are funny lol bravo

  • it says:they shut me in the canakkale, they put me in the grave before i dead,... something like that

  • im from iraq and ilove turkish songs iwish i can understand what they say

  • Peace for Turkey and Greece!!!

  • cok güzel cok duygusal!!

  • she is sayıng :çanakkale içinde vurdular beni,ölmeden mezara koydular beni.this is turkısh word

  • turkısh ı know thıs. thıs song playın in turkey. turkısh enstrual center...

  • this song simply shows how close these two nations were even after the war, even after all that pain and suffering. it was a huge trauma for both nations and people from the same vilages, same past, same culture had to fight and kill each other. brothers became enemies after hundred years of history. same thing happened between armenians and turks.turks still havent recovered from this trauma and i see that greeks still suffer as well.

it will all be over one day. sooner or later..

  • this is a really interesting recording. the first song she is singing is in turkish and its a famous song about "dardenelles campaign" which took place between british and ottoman empire (then). greek invasion in anatolia started in may 1919 and turkish war of independence ended in august 1922. in 1923 both sides were in lousanne discussing peace.

yet these greek immigrants are still singing a song about a turkish soldier who died in dardenelles in turkish in year 1923.

  • this song is still sung in 2008 :D

  • marika is my great great great aunt :D

i have a couple original photos of her. :]

  • But is she Turkish or Greek?

  • shes Greek. her full name is Marika Konstantina Papagika. she was born on the island of Kos, near the Turkish mainland south of Smyrna. she is my yiayia's great great aunt i believe. so i know she is greek for a fact.

did that answer your question? :]

  • Uhu absolutely, you did... Thanks dude :)

  • get the fuck out of here idiot, when greek byzantine and ottomans had a culture your london was filled with rats.

  • Nice job spelling civilization right.
