It's not about being "more powerful" or better in relevance to other MS in another Gundam universe. It's all about context in it's own universe. The UC shows were by far the best ones in story, animation, design, etc. The Apsalus is pretty much the most powerful MA in any of the UC shows that know of.

I'm not sure you understand just how big this thing is. A normal gundam looks absolutely tiny next to the Apsalus. I am myself a big Wing Zero fan too, but this thing really does have much more destructive power.

Dont forget this was the prototype being simulated not the finished weapon as well. Though Zeon seemed to love their MA big and god awful ugly.
