in tkd there is a special part, caled selfdesens...there you learn keylocks and different defence techniques...in real tkd (itf) you almost always put your guard up, you put it down only when you want to get spar. partner in trap...if you do kicks in a good way, you are NEVER out of balance...in real (itf) tkd you are never blind, you always look into your oponent...jumping can be very usefull in street, if you know how to use it...

what I can say is that a tkd fighter is doomed if he is in the corner restrained, As far as he has his space he is dangerous as any other fighter...generally speaking .And the fact that they dont punch in the face in sparring doesnt mean they cant punch same with blocking, although they mostly train avoiding a hit and not blocking it , much better cause blocking also hurts sometimes

WTF is a great art and is not completely represented in this clip but you do tend to fight (in the street) like you spar due to the drilling and reflex development consequently constantly relying on off balance kicks, no guard and no hand techniques could cause some issues. At least its unique.

The truth is WTF really use punches, competitors use it in competition but, its very rare to see them use punches in competition, because it's not an effective scoring technique. Don't underestimate the power of one technique.

Look at Aikido, they just throw away anything that is thrown at them, punches kicks, weapons. But still, they only use a single technique, don't take so much pride in your art bro, tenets of ITF doesn't teach you to that.
