One of my favourite U2 songs both studio and live. Loved this version when I 1st heard it, had another listen last night and still feel the same. Love the rhythm guitar on the verses and the vocals.
Love the original album version. Love the live "Wide Awake In America" version. And I have to say, this alternate single mix is interesting. It's a bit less atmospheric and more rhythmic. Nice layered backing vocals. Better or worse than the album? Neither just a different take and a great tune.
@vksrlat Watch the visuals on this track. U2 remastered and re-released The Unforgettable Fire on October 27, 2009. They released a regular CD, a 2 disc "Deluxe Edition" and a box set. This track is on the Deluxe Edition and the box set, which is featured on this video.
U2 and Peter Gabriel are the best of the best. Not my absolute favorite. But I do admit they are the definatly the best!

works for me; i think the guitar and drums having more ownership of the song makes the song better

This is great, but it really focuses on the new drum track, not the PG vocals at the beginning. That's what drew me in, but I still loved it!
I was kind of disappointed though, because I thought it was PG singing the entire song, which would have been awesome.

what's up with the silence at the end from (3:17 to the end)? Was it just an accident? Or was it for copyright reasons?
Smart move if for copyright stuff.

Nah, that would be just me not setting the end marker right in Music Maker when I was converting :P

I would take out the Peter Gabriel sounding chant and keep it the original chant. Besides that, I like it. It's fun.
