Just found an old TVGuide from 1975 (2 years before I entered this world) and saw a close-up ad for this special. Somehow I knew it would be on YouTube :) Thanks :)
Almost everyday of my life something comes up from this record -- especially "Never run for a bus, they'll always be another." But also "There's something bigger than Philip!"
You don't hear great stuff like this anymore. Not often, anyway.Anyone of any age could hear this;no need to cover the kids' ears(or Grandma's) when somebody says something crude.I like many forms fof humour,i'm not a prude, but I do wish that there was more of this gentle, whimsicle, even silly but not stupid, comedy around.
I'm am soooooo happy to find this. Everyone thought i was crazy when i told them of some show i had seen where a lion was eating a cavemans foot off back when i was just little. This is the first time i have seen it since i was probably 4 years old. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!
A half-hour animated television special, The 2000 Year Old Man, premiered January 11, 1975,[2] incorporating some of the original recordings.[2] This special has since been released on VHS videocassette and DVD. The musical introduction was Bach's Sinfonia to Cantata #29 performed on a Moog synthesizer by Mort Garson.[citation needed]
This was in a video rental place when I was little. I LOVED it, but, it's so short, I only rented it once. Wanted to see it again, but, better value for monies to rent full length movies, lol. So, thank you for sharing this.
@elgincheese The music is done by Wendy Carlos (or possibly Walter at the time... don't ask)
She was one of the first people to use and develop electronic synthesisers, and created several records to demonstrate their vast abilities by doing interpretations of classical music, mostly Bach.

'The Simpsons' brought me here, and I'm glad it did. :-)
I really like the synthesizer Bach, too.

Two thousand years ago, otherwise known as pre-history. I *knew* there was something fishy about HBO's "Rome"!

Sounds like Wendy Carlos music from A Clockwork Orange. Larry David told Ricky Gervais he had to watch this, so do I.

Walter Carlos, Switched on Bach was the music.
One of the few times my family gathered around a TV to watch anything...and this had us floored.
Thanks for the upload.

@HMperson1 You have a great sense of humor. Another version of this joke was an account of "the first school spirit cheer."
"To hell with everyone, EXCEPT Cave 76."
