I think the main reason Vol.3 sounded so much different than Iowa was because they got most the darkness outta em in Iowa. Back in 2004, u were expecting something just as dark as Iowa. When you'd here 'Duality' & 'Before I Forget' ur like, "This is the same group that played "Disasterpiece", "Gently", & "The Shape"!?" but when you'd here "Vermilion", you be like, "Oh, ok...there they are." >:D

Iowa may not be the heaviest, but it is the angriest album ever made in the last 25 years or in existence! Nothing could top the anger, pity, and emotional downpour they make you feel while retaining a heretic/satanic like sound and technical nu-metal power.
i remember buying the album the first day it came out with the shiny ass cover and thinking whoa do i like this well its 2011 and iv'e seen slipknot live 2 times once in 99 and in 09 and i hope to see them in 11
It definately was a great album, and although I like All Hope Is Gone album more, Iowa was obviously the most emotionally enraging album out there, and that was, to me, what made the album so fucking sic, and sicness is epicness in an entire new level. Can't wait for 11.1.11

well, yeah, but he meant within the genre slipknot's in which is just Metal. obviously slipknot are more melodic and versatile but he was referring to how they made it, hard times and such. But yeah death metal is heavier
