the white noise,i do hear it but it's not TOO bad.the lag bothers me more, gives somewhat of a headache.anyway,i didn't know about that hunt trick! it's pretty cool
I do hope you continue the series. In all honesty at first I just thought the choppiness was part of the game. Only noticed it wasn't when you pointed it out...
I wish I could help, when I did Shining Force for the Mega Drive I had to use my Dazzle and PS3 as HyperCam done basically the same thing, but no problems what so ever with any of the Sonic games I've done, even CD was fine. I tell ya these screen recorders hate some RPGs.
I wouldn't know what to suggest other than playing with settings or like someone else suggested changing priority and seeing if that helps. Either way I'd still watch even with the choppiness as honestly it doesn't bother me.
Xerxes, a wise man once told me: "Those who seek perfection - to the highest degree - are fortunate for they can never limit their best efforts. What they make is always good even if they don't think so themselves. They tend to doubt their own abilities and fail to recognize that good work comes from themselves and effort, not the finished product." Your pride for your work is great and commendable, but we here love your work for YOU, not your quality. We want this to continue, do it for us.
I dont know what issues your talking about... but i honestly havent noticed anything as far as audio and fps goes... it all seems perfectly fine to me. i just get excited to see more vids! :D
I've never had issues using Camtasia before. I would look into using a different emulator. I've always had the most success with Desmume but I am not sure if it plays GBA games or not.
I honestly thought that the chop was just the emulator like how the megaman playthroughs had some chop when there were a lot of enemies on screen. It doesn't really bother me at all, I don't really think it matters too much and I would like to see the playthroughs continue.
@TheZigZagProductions Lol that is a fair observation, those old NES games definitely lagged at busy parts. But that was the game itself and I expected it, in this case it PLAYS fine, just records laggy and does it with little on the screen. It makes it quite a shock when I go to edit and it doesn't look how I just played it.
I will admit that the frame rate is a bit choppy at times, but personally I find it does not detract from your play through. If you can remedy the problem all the better, but as it stands, I would continue to watch regularly.
yeah i noticed it pretty much the first step you took in the first part of the series and it is annoying but in saying that i'm still enjoying the lp so far and if you decide to continue with it i'll definitely watch it
Fuck that, finish this... also do you have the parts your going to order yet? (if you drop $1200, you build it yourself to get the most bang for your buck)
@FacepalmEqualsFun Naw, I sort of custom buy on CyberPowerPC but I'll not worry about that until the time actually comes. I can't build that stuff myself, if I did... I wouldn't be in this position now.
@mtgxerxes It's actually easy, you can compare it to an expensive jigsaw puzzle, as long as your very carefull and do a decent amount of research to make sure the parts work with each other, it should come out fine. Your probably much smarter then I am, and I built the computer I'm using right now for about $950 with no idea how to actually build it, someone helped me order the parts, and I referenced a ton of online guides/walkthroughs, and eventually got it running.
dont stop it pleaase it realy doesnt annoy me at all and I like al of your playtroughs because you do something weith it (your commentary or so) that makes is great so please dont stop
i think you set the frame rate too high actually. I think Camtasia's default is 15fps (any higher and Camtasia seems to struggle itself), and I think running SNES games gives it pretty little lag in general normally. I forget what I used to do when i had my garbage laptop, but you might want to change the key frame setting.
Considering what type of game it is, the lag really isn't that big of a deal right now though and I don't think people are all that bothered.
Its annoying but its certainly tolerable. I'd like to see you continue this, as I'm enjoying it and it would be cool to get 1-4 with you, Dario and Kooper. Perhaps try some other recording software? It shouldn't matter, but computers are fickle, especially Windows based ones. ><
The lag's there, but personally it's not enough for me to say "stop this LP immediately." You should continue on man! This LP still has a lot of potential!
I don't know if it will help any but you can try setting your game/recording device to a higher priority. ( Ctrl Alt Del, go to processes, find the program and right click, set to high priority.) Some times this helps enough to give a specific program the edge over the rest.
Yeah, I've noticed the technical difficulties. I love this series though and would hate to see it end at such a young age! I mean, if you are gonna quit it, please do it now and not on Part 50 or whatever, but ideally don't stop the firebreathing!
This let's play is awesome and I don't care about the quality, but I understand how you feel about putting up videos that aren't perfect, it'd just be a shame to not be able to see this through to the end.
@05sn Well no I mean, at the TIME it was, but NOWadays you could get some random machine out of any electronics store just like it (without the flashing colors and and case and stuff) for an -estimated- 500 bucks.
Two weeks before Diablo III launches, I'm dropping 1200 on a new tower.
@mtgxerxes Actually I'm certain that the problem is camtasia, try using CamStudio. You'll also have to download the Lossless codec from their homepage since it doesn't come with the actual program. I used to record some FF9 vids with it and it worked a lot better than Camtasia or Fraps. Better quality and performance. But keep in mind that the default codecs suck. Download CamStudio Lossless codec if you decide to try it.
Don't stop the playthrough. I'm wondering what emulator your using; since different ones react differently to records. Also; go in to settings and see if its possible to keep at the same frame rate.
@mtgxerxes BTW have you tried recording with fraps? Actually scratch that, fraps sucks. Try CamStudio with the CamStudio Lossless codec, it should work a lot better. If that doesn't help perhaps you should try another resolution for SNES. If its too high, it will suck up a lot of power even from the fastest computers. Try 640x480 and if that's not the case try playing in windowed mode.
@Dario8676 I downloaded something off thier website the other day to try but I wasn't able to get ANYTHING to work. I couldn't record an emulator or a full screen game, take screenshots... and it only would let me do "What-U-hear" audio which is not what I normally use so I'd have to run more programs to go along with it for the commentary, and I'm not sure if thats a good thing.
I also heard Fraps is a power hog and may slow down my older computer pretty heavily.
@mtgxerxes you should give fraps a try and see how it works. It will record the game audio and video for you. You just need to record your commentary with a program like audacity. Only prob with fraps is it doesn't seem to work too well with snes9x. Hmm have you thought about trying debut video capture?
Xerxes, I understand how you feel about the quality of the video because I'm also the same. BUT, I think that in this case, we're watching and enjoying these videos because of the fact that you are playing the game, not because of the quality or anything. Honestly, I don't think the quality's even that bad that you have to scrap the entire let's play, and it'd be a shame if you did.
I'll hate you forever if you stop now :( what matters is that people want to see more and that its entertaining. Can't someone help him out so he'll stop whining? ^.^

@TheHungryZebras 5 minutes of an RPG is like, nothing. Thats like walking to a town and having the random battles in the middle, or searching the town for all its free loot. One floor of a dungeon, not even a full boss fight.
