H.P. Lovecraft's oeuvre should be part of the Western Canon. The Penguin editions avec annotations, The LOA volume, the S.T. Joshi research, bios, etc. should persuade you on this. Plus let's focus on all those letters HPL wrote (100,000 pgs).
Blacks are intellectually inferior, and they will never be able to succeed as any race. Read about the Bell Curve. Many Third World people have come here to improve their lives and have succeeded. Blacks spiral downwards, consistently. Blacks only succeed in trashing their environments with ghetto culture and baby factoring at taxpayers' expenses. People are judged by their actions and blacks have shown time and time again that they're not worth the air they breathe.
@hanaryukoku yeah, and the crime rates were lower and our cities would have been safer. being bigotted might have saved our cities and towns from being the black crime filled filthy ghettos they are today. but you are blissfully unaware of such areas thanks to your privlidged upbringing.
Celebrity Chef Brandon Myles Perry dedicated his one of his books "Contemporary Indie-Style Cookery" to Dan O Bannon one of the makers of this movie, as well as H.P Lovecraft!!!
Carpenter's "Thing" was intended to be based on the Old Ones. An indescribable, unfathomable shape shifting horror that could Medusa anyone DARING to look upon it!
It's a superb documentary. I do get tired of Gaiman saying that Lovecraft is great "...because he's rock and roll," but I thought he came across far better in this than he did in THE ELDRITCH INFLUENCE, where he called "The Call of Cthulhu" a "crap story." I was thrilled to see that you interview'd ye fabulous Peter Straub! His Library of America edition of Lovecraft's TALES is simply wonderful!
actually warner bros declined ATMOM (del toro's) cos they were worried how will audience accept the film which does not include love scenes and happy ending..... stupid WB
Why don't big horror directors make a Lovecraft movie? instead we get mediocre adaptions, some of which are hard to find. B&W Cthulhu, Dagon and Music of Eric Zahn (short movie), are the only faithful or quite close adaptions of his work. I would love to see Carpenter, Raimi, or Peter Jackson, or even Croenberg make a movie on Lovecraft's work.
Because, while Lovecraft may have been a prominent, or even the defining influence on modern day horror, the general masses would not like a Lovecraftian horror film.
It is simple: there is no happy ending ever, and as someone who has seen Hollywoods adaptation of "I Am Legend", I have a hard time believing that kind of script, which is the kind of script required to be faithful to the stories, could possibly be approved.
That said if Christian Bale would star in it, I would be all over it.
they do got a call of cthulhu film but its a silent film made to fit the mood, it SUCKS!! and theres CTHULHU (2008), that movie i have been trying to get my hands on but its almost like it dosent exsist
wich is very much pissing me off, they got a load of movies based upon his work, From-Beyond, Re-Animator, At the mouth of madness, Dagon. try thos, hope it helps lol
lovecrafts life story would not make a good film, his life was actually quite boring, they should do a film of the call of cthulhu and the shadow over innsmouth
I'd love for some director to do a life's story of Lovecraft, but showing the viewer the world of cthulu through his eyes, with computer generated graphics. Also showing cthulu as a visual metaphor of his life's hardships.

I would be doing cartwheels if any of those directors were to make a movie adaptation of Lovecraft's work.
