What is the Real Reason Why Richard Dawkins won't Debate William Lane Craig?

Dawkins performed like a scolded third grader next to Lennox--and he was awful, sweating, squirming, when Ben Stien had him on the ropes in 2 minutes. I admit I like Dawkins and he performs well when he is preaching to the choir with on Real Time, but when he is confronted with a person with Knowledge & skill he falls very short. Dawkins is great in a monolog--but not very impressive when challanged.

I'd like to thank donclesconforms for the links to the downloads of the mentioned Lennox vs. Dawkins debate.  I had heard this debate before, it turns out, though I didn't attach Dawkins to it when I heard it (I barely knew who he was).

In it, we can constantly see Dawkins falling back. I'm not entirely sure why, but Dawkins keeps coming to his personal opinion of the Jesus narrative ("It's petty") rather than a more objective opinion on whether it's true or not.

Craig is much more aggressive than Lennox. The Lennox debate was awful for Dawkins. I can't imagine how bad he would fair against Craig.

No one knows, lots of European countries have high proportions as well as Australia/New Zealand. America seems to be the last western country with a high religious proportion, one of the last few with capital punishment. The only countries really rive with CP and religion are eastern countries these days.

What do you define as atheism is a problem in questioning, high proportions of people say they don't belong to any religion but they may believe in a deity etc.

The Lennox debate? Really? Wow. I've seen snippets (by the by, is there a full video of it here or do I have to look commercially?), especially the bit where Lennox catches Dawkins equivocating faith ("Do you have faith in your wife?", etc).

Now, I've seen Lennox speak and he's well spoken and very laid back in his speach, a slow pace to nearly everything he says. He has also used powerful arguements, both intellectually and emotionally. I can see him striking the fear of God in someone.

I thought John Lennox had something to do with it. The hype over Dawkins is not with me, personally, i'd like to see William Lane Craig debate Stephen Hawking. Richard Dawkins is more attitude problem than anything else it seems to me.

You can't refute atheism by the failure of it's main apologist, however, Dawkins' incapability is truly relevant in showing that there's something fishy with atheism.

I think the word would be BANKRUPCY, this is, when the financial advisors won't even show their faces.

"Dr" Dawkins is in a tough spot. Debate and be exposed as having no substance or refuse and lose credibility.

So far he seems to be hoping it all just goes away. I think he also knows that Dr. Craig is mostly well known to only those who follow the arguments intently, and "Dr" Dawkins can't risk the obvious good publicity for theism when he is trounced. If the masses hear WLC's name too much they just might consider his arguments, can't have that.

I could debate Dawkins and point out how he needs therapy. e.e This is a guy that believes his opinion over any references or actual evidence. If he claims their is no God then he is claiming omniscience. If he says "You can't disprove a negative", throw that omniscient argument at them. Then tell them they are actually operating on more faith that theists because it doesn't take absolute knowledge to believe something. Atheism is just stupid. It is an emotionally driven opinion. I saw a video where Dawkins was asked who the best president was and he said Obama because he was so intellectually superior and such a good speaker. LOL That right there shows how gullible and simple he is. But, let's give him some credit. Maybe it was recorded when Obama had just began the office and hadn't actually done anything yet. But, even I, who only has a simple BAS degree, could see through his political flatteries and lies. He can't even make a speech without a teleprompter!

Quite shallow isnt it that atheists like Dawkins championed the use of debates in the quest for truth only when they thought they could win it? Before Craig's name popped up into the atheist camp close to all atheists believed debates were at least a very good indicator of which side was right.

I think it's both facts mixed together. 1.Lennox destroyed him and 2.He knows Craig is a smart guy that would also destroy him. The fact that he hasn't come up with any response to Craig's refutal's of The God Delusion is an indicator of point 2.

Something tells me (through Craig's testimony here) that Richard Dawkins tried his very best to defeat John Lennox in their debates but knew he failed over and over again. And so coming to the realization that he's just not fast on his intellectual feet, Dawkins decided to ditch a debate with Craig.
