@owenhunt now that I was thinking of it, here's something strange. Story (in fact, several stories) has it that it was Rebecca Moore that introduced Jeff to Sin-E: "Daniel Harnett, an actor [...] Moor said her boyfriend had nowhere to gig and was rehearsing in their apartment, an could Harnett recommend some clubs? Harnett told her about [...] Sin-E. He thought it could be just the right fit." (by David Browne)
@VegaVelecka Surely Rebecca herself could dispel any rumours and surface the truth? I swear Buckley gigged at several clubs before discovering Sin-e and finding his fit.
Personally I am endeared to the idea of an Irish man introducing an Irish-American to an Irish tavern -- with the luck of the Irish striking longevity for Sir Buckley. We fans should really press for a truth' on this matter as it is a vital component of Jeff's rise and fall.
Wow I've been into Jeff Buckley since I saw him play in 94' in Austin, Tx, but now more and more connections are happening that put together all the pieces of the puzzle of Jeff's life.
I knew Jeff roadied for The Commitments. But to learn him and Hansard were mates? Makes perfect, fucking, sense. Art finds Art. It just serves to remind me that when it comes to the quality, this world isn't as vast as we wish it was.
I didn't realize that Glen and Jeff Buckley were friends that's really cool since they are two of my favorites. It also just so happens that another one of my favorite musicians Jimmie Gnecco was also friends with him which I think makes for a cool connection. I don't know what it is but theres just something about this interview that makes me want to go out and really start living. thanks so much for sharing
Thank you for posting this emotional and moving tribute from Glen Hansard. It is really precious to hear about Jeff Buckley from someone who knew and cared about him. This has to be one of the most touching tribute songs written for Jeff.
well, that was the first interview I have heard about Jeff that didn't come across as a star-struck fan, but a heartbroken, honest friend. I actually cried when Glen played the song for Jeff. Thank you for this interview. Means a lot. The appreciated the way Glen just moved on from the fact Tim was his 'father', and didn't push Jeff away by that. just an excellent interview with Jeff's friend.
thanks so much for posting this. My two favorite musician on the planet. Its pure magic and serendipity that they were able to be friends and share music in this world before Jeff died.
I hadn't heard this before, and it is a real treat. Listening to it leaves a profound impression on me of being privy to a time in Jeff's life just before his he leaped on to the world stage. Very moving. Thank you, Glen Hansard and savagecabage, for sharing this with us.
@womanatwittsend no problem. he seems gets lots of abuse from people for talking about this story all the time, but would you blame him! id never shut up about it if i met jeff buckley lol

@VegaVelecka It sounds like Glen inadvertently introduced Jeff to the bar where he became legend. Life is a mosaic, truly.

@owenhunt 'Various theories exist explaining how Jeff Buckley began his Monday night residency at Sin-E in April 1992. ' (Jeff Apter 'Pure Drop')

I believe I've heard this story before. But it was a good revisit and a beautiful redition of Beaches.
Was worth the listen. Thanks for sharing it.
