They're not so much comparing the actors, but more the issues that both degrassi and spring awakening deals with, as both mediums deal with subject matter that affect teens today. So its more using both as an outlet as many young people can identify with both the television show and/or the musical.

@VintageRomance Because both SA and Degrassi deal with big teen issues. Both have covered sex, abortion, incest, rape, and homosexuality and both portray them in a realistic way.

The "I Failed" Scene is so sad to watch during Spring Awakening but I just love how they show a lot of Drama in it. I saw Glenn Flesher and Blake Bashoff do the scene. They were terrific. I love John Gallagher Jr. and Stephen Spinella's too.
