I don't know where Coloraturafan gets these pirated films of Sutherland, but they are priceless. Even more stunning is his generosity to share them with the listening public on youtube. When one owns an extraordinarily significant collection, all thats left which is worthy are the pirates
Note to the nobodies who diss Miss Sutherlands later performances...
Know your place; nonexistant and useless to anyone who is informed.
You must be an expert. I strongly disagree with you strongly.I saw Dame Joan in more than 20 operas and several concerts and l was never once disappointed with any performance of hers.
You'd be correct, it was originally written for Malibran in the key of B flat - sopranos jsut love it so much that they tack it on to the ending, up in the key of of D. Thanks for the upload!
Yes, I was aware that she and Richard had more or less resurrected this ending. Only a musician as great as Dame Joan could sing this so well after having done it so long.

I would just like to observe that when Maria Callas was the age that La Stupenda is here she had been dead for seven years.

At this stage of her career she could not articulate a single word. Rusty fireworks.

I think (not sure) that this aria was part of the Malibran revised score.

This is truely a masterful performance of this difficult aria, especially considering her age. Where was this production?
