Many things helped. Better submarine detection both from the surface and also long range spotter / attack aircraft like the Catalina came into play. Cracking of the Enigma codes so the Allies could read the Uboat's radio transmissions was a major bonus too. No-one had an easy time of it but imagine being in the Merchant Navy. If you survived being torpedoed your pay stopped until you were back on another ship! What a way to treat these brave men.

Lend lease from America allowed the UK to survive until Pearl Harbor brought America into the War on Britain's side. Britain couldn't win by itself but with the aid of America and the Soviet Union it was able to prevail.

And that lease is now paid off.

But in reality we would of won without America. It's just the USSR would have done most of it.

However what you need to remember is that it was us that cracked the Enigma code and it was us that fought the more important battles.

Most of America's war was trade and profit.

Our war was people dieing from the begining to the end fighting for freedom and democracy.

The USA was forced into this war. We were not
