Omg this phone comes with A LOT of widgets...he went into the HTC folder...in the Android widget folder there's got to be at least 20 widgets

call me crazy but I was in the Verizon store and was playing around with the Droid and the Eris, but im getting the Eris simply because it has pinch and zoom, Why on earth the Droid doesnt have the Multi touch feature when browsing the web is beyond me, the screen on the Eris looks a little more crisp than the Droid, after my impressions of them both i decided im gonna get the Eris today, that 79.99 price is a steal ( online price ) smartphones

Actually you can get the dolphin browser on the MotoDroid and it has pinch and zoom...

The chunky overpriced droid does not have multitouch because its default android, but htc developed their own multitouch system which they integrated into the htc sense ui included on the droid eris. Also the touchscreen sucks on the big droid.

Good point, but it is heavier cause of the physical keyboard so if thats any sort of any issue, eris is good. But droid is probably the best phone on the market, obviously the iphone is close, if not better.

The moto droid is not the "better phone" ... its mainly personal preference. Yes, the moto droid has SOME higher specs, but the phone itself is a POS compared to the eris. And a lot of people are happier with droid 1.5 than 2.0

I'm a smart phone virgin. I plan to do a lot of web surfing. Is android 1.5 slow/ bad experience as compared to android 2.0. My question is really Motorola Droid or HTC Droid Eris? If I buy the Eris now, can I use the same phone when android 2.0 is available, or do I need a new one?

you can upgrade to 2.0 if you have an eris running on 1.5, so you dont have to get a new phone. the droid is a bit faster than the eris, but the eris is 100 bucks less and the virtual keyboard is much better. also if you use the web a lot, it has pinch and zoom multitouch, which the droid does not. pinch and zoom is a great tool, and you will find that you use it a lot in youur browsing

i seen eris compared to moto droid. the 1.5 is slower cuz its...1.5..and htc's thouch flo uses more space then moto's 2.0...but i say motorola is SHIT. dont get droid...save 100$ and get eris...i say. im sure itl be just a patch for old fone

I agree 100% the droid blows compared to the Eris... people are just all hyped up on specs too much, omg it cost more it must be better. Not, use both side by side and its clear which one is better. The moto droid keyboard is one of the worst ive ever touched.

well some app makers are making apps for the android market, yes, but the problem is alot are not because the way the android market is set up and the low number of users bc its such a new platform.

It has a lot of features such as full web browser and an accelerometer which is good for games but it requires a $30 data plan in addition to whatever nationwide plan you have. So it might be more than you are willing to spend on a kid - and might be more than they need. Also might be a little fragile for a kid. I'm sure he/she would love it though.

no review needed the n900 when it is release state side will be a much better phone if you want an internet tablet/phone. and the n900 is gonna cost a pretty penny with out discounts. the eris is a good, cheaply priced phone that will do everything and plus some when needed.
