  • shes great! her voice is so powerful!!!

  • Fabulous Cossotto as usual- one of the truly greats

  • BRAVA COSSOTTO-YOUR FANTASTIC

  • They are not just world singers but they are also genious actors. Tears on the Cossotto`s face, her voice- this is how I fell drama. Domingo with his voice smashes tones and vocal parts- with his face he loves, he hates, he is crying inside! They are the best. EPIC!

  • What a great acting! Just look at their face! They are worl singers and genious actors. Tears on the Cossotto`s face- this is how I feel drama! At Domingo`s face you can feel angry, love, power and sadness! They are the best. EPIC!

  • Grandioso!

  • Very good

  • Mascagni is a tragic figure like Massenet- simply under appreciated by today's audience- yet in their prime- they were pinnacle of opera.

I would rank Mascagni equal if nor better than Puccini and alongside Leoncavello.

"Il Re a Napoli" is superb.

The generation of composers that died in the 1950's sadly brought the genius of post-romanticism to the grave as well.

Now the boors all fawn over Webber and the vulgar grotesque ditties of Broadway. RIP Mascagni.

  • Pavarotti was all fortissimo bombastico. E voce Carreras piu non melifluente.

Ma- Domingo's voice the true dolce tenor- superlative smooth timbre superb control.

All Domingo's recordings are the DEFINITIVE par non compare. The CARUSO of our time.

Lei e meastro fantastissimo e piu bravurissimo.

His voice is a miracle of raw talent and classical discipline.

Only Boccelli & his teacher rank alongside Maestro Placido Domingo.

  • The Great Cossotto is Magnificent! A true Diva, and one who burns the stage with star power!

  • She made my cry! She is the best singer after Callas! I love you Signora Cossotto

  • @operaclassicc Me too!!

  • What a horrible din. How anyone can get any pleasure from this is quite beyond me. It makes my very teeth ache, let alone my head. The relief when it ends is wonderful. Each to their own I suppose.

  • @Rocquettes is it too sweet? e piu dolce per la Signoretta?

  • She is good, and P. Domingo is good as ever. Wonderful duet.

  • Excellent !!

  • Magnífico õ/

  • @ItaloSapo Magnific-iss-iss-issimo!

Sempliciemnte Divina!!!

  • LA MALA PASQUA, you S.O.B.!

Fantastici

  • Maravilloso

  • Cossotto's singing is very impressing. but her acting isn't by far. she's a singer not an actress. not like obraztsova or callas.

example: 0:10 she doesn't react to domingo's atempt to slap her - not very convincing. and her "a te la mala pasqua" is pathetically over dramatised. for sure that's allowed in opera, but in my opinion a little bit more subtle is highly appreciated. but once again her singing is exceptionally beautiful!

  • Excellent! and with Japanese subtitles too!

  • Awesome! Great artists at their peaks.

  • Pure artistry. Gut-wrenching sound!!

  • Coppia perfetta, grandissimi nel canto e nell'interpretazione scenica. Il verismo va interpretato e cantato così.

  • Domingo has a good stage presence and his voice has charisma but in this performance he is upstaged by the fantastic Cossotto. She is very talented but i still prefer the emotion Callas brings to the role.

  • Pretty good but I still prefer by far Callas' Santuzza.

  • Stunning.

  • Makes me cry...

  • wow! Both are simply amazing!

  • who is the director?

  • this is fantastic!

  • The most beloved of my own in Santuzza's character is, undoubtedly, Maria Callas... the rest is just environment!

  • She is a very good actress. Why can't people like jerodo4330 get it. This is a film of a staged production. The acting is going to look BIG to a viewer who is used to the small gestures of movies. Filmed theater has to project to the back of the opera house. Opera is grand it is not naturalism. They are great together!

  • encantado

  • Perfect.

  • Brava Brava ! Fiorenza.Grande attrice !

  • Beautiful singing very emotional but it seems to me that if they would have faced eachother more instead of the audience it would have been better dramatically.

  • Riviting!

  • It is very hard to speak about anything, and to listen anybody else after Domingo.

    Jusé Cura? So simple...

  • Cossotto, la dea!!!!!! Unica, superba!!!!!!

    Magnifico Domingo

  • Cossotto, la dea!!!!!! Unica, superba!!!!!!

    Magnifico Domingo

  • straordinaria fiorenza cossotto...domingo in splendida forma vocale...bravi!

  • Ok I hope I dont make anyone Mad but i think it was just Ok i mean placido is perfect i did not like her acthing Just take a look at Verrett and Callas when they sing They look at Turidu

  • It would probably cause Domingo ear damage if she sang towards him.

  • they rock, fantastic!!!!

  • LA + GRANDE OPERA ITALIANA!!!

  • sensational- Cossotto the Godess.

  • :'(

  • For me, Cossotto is still assoluta in most of her signature roles, including this one. Of her calling card repertory, only Zajick's Amneris surpasses the work we took so much for granted when Cossotto was in her prime. I miss her.

  • On stage, Cossotto was an immense powerhouse with a stunning voice, but in person she was known to scream at costume ladies "for not hiding her flabby arms," not stopping once they burst into tears.

  • Not even the greatest voices in the world can permit boorish behaviour. If Cossotto was concerned with her fat arms...opening her fat mouth wasn't going to help resolve the problem. Also, today the vocal world is toooo competitive to accept unacceptable behaviour.

  • great chest voice...definately a mezzo

  • Good to know that a decade after her studio recording of the same opera Cossotto is still able to sing her part. Extraordinary, considering the amount of energy produced by this singer in every performance.

Maybe she should have been a soprano instead of a mezzo;)

  • Personally, I would then find her alot more boring.

  • Absolutely Fantastic. She may overact, but it works in this opera. What a voice Cossotto has.

  • Totalmente verista.

  • Stunning.
