It was a 50 50 split for me between Rush and Young, but now... Young is one of the biggest pieces of trash i have ever seen in my life and I cannot believe that he has any rank in the military. Soldiers, especially officers do not behave like that towards their fellow crew members. He should be stripped of his rank, court martialled, and put in a federal prison for this. Eli is still a stud though. I cant tell if that look was dissapointment or him saying its all right. Y do u like Young Eli?

@stefanski48 I think SGU is the complete opposite of the other franchises, aka we get to see every character for the vile piece of shit they are, because every human has that evil seed in them and Young is no different, military or not. There's not enough space here to keep going much further but suffice it to say that Young is reacting to his dire situation like everyone else. He is the resistor, and Rush is the acceptor, and so they clash like a supernova.

On a little different note: how fast actually Destiny flies? In every intro it is said that the ship was launched thousands years ago. So lets say 100 000 years. And they are hundreds million light years from Earth... So she must travel way faster than speed of light, right?

@tjblues01 well, as you can see by the blueish glow during the travel scenes the ship is supposed to fly within a bubble through hyperspace. That alone implies superliminal flight.

@Ishkariot If you fly fast enough in space, the the tiny tiny molecule and gases in space will collide with the ship, (but it will be harmless). However, IF you fly at the SPEED OF LIGHT, then all those molecule will ram on the ship like a BIG PILE OF ROCK or like a shuttle re-entering the atmosphere (very hot). -All those bluish colour is the SHIELD interacting with the gasses. If the ship loose power, it must STOP or explode!

Well obviously Rush will be back. And it's pretty obvious how he'll get back on the ship. What good is a gate NETWORK if all it does is connect to the ship. He'll just head them off at the pass, assuming he's lucky enough not to end up on another ice planet or something along the way. Maybe he'll explore the gate building ships ahead of them while he's at it.

I dont think I care if the series ever comes back. These characters leave a lot to be desired compared to SG1 and Atlantis.The best example of a good officer was General Hammond, Don Davis played him with dignity, honor and realism,you could feel his concern for his people. Col. Young is a pale shadow of an officer compared to Hammond or Oneill as is Telford.What happened to leave no one behind?Maybe if the Penquins are a repeat, I may watch.

Rush is definetly coming back on the ship. He's the best actor on the show (by a mile) and the central character. This is just a way of giving him even more flaws so he becomes even more interesting.

And I don't know if anybody else sees it but Colonel Young's character has also been further enriched byt this last encounter.

I agree with a lot of the comments here.

Rush deserved it. He is so driven, that in the process, like a lot of people, he has made plenty of enemies. I for one, cheered when he got his a*s kicked. Loved it.

As to how he gets out of it, with the ship gone, have to wait to find out. May not. Down in Oz, looks like the show may have been cancelled, or delayed. All in all, the show is developing well, but a lot like BSG in mood, and appearance. Hope it gets better soon.

Rush is the only person there actually working the problem and yes he's using cold harsh objectivity. Everyone else is wasting time having OC moments or trying to be the most delinquent contestant in the Big Brother house! (Not a dig at the writers) How many episodes has young or someone bitched to Rush about some random nonsense requiring him to exclaim: "FFS we're out of power I haven't slep in days, and am balancing 16 tasks just trying to keep you losers alive!" (I paraphrase of course ;)

@128919 Rush didn't do anything when the ship loose power, he just look at the screen trying to understand it. In fact: he said to Col. Young; "It made no difference (if I'm right or I'm wrong)", he said that before Destiny enter the star. -He also suggested Col. Young to rigged the lottery.

I agree, Rush is not the villain as such, he's just trying to win the three way power struggle (scientists, military and the faction that Camille leads) so he can control his own research, which is fair enough.

I think everyone expects him to have all the answers and it is not unreasonable that he get frustrated because Colonel Young restricts progress.

It's a lot different to SGA, and both are brilliant.

I don't think Young restricts progress. Young is being cautious, not willing to risk peoples' lives unneccessarily. That's not restricting progress. Rush on the other hand doesn't seem to care about caution or ethics or unneccessary loss of life or whether or not people get hurt. There are rules, ethical & otherwise, to follow in scientific research & everything else, & Rush strikes me as someone who just doesn't want to go by the rules. A guy almost died because he wouldn't follow the rules.

I believe that Rush will survive as well. I think he will stumble across an important discovery in the ship. If that was the end of him however, this show just got even more stupid.

Rush isn't the villain... not entirely. He's antagonistic towards Young because he believes him to be a weak leader.

Rush is the only one who whole heartedly embraces Destiny's mission to explore the universe (kind'uv like how no one but Daniel believed O'Niell possessed the knowledge of the Ancients).

Rush is the newer hardier version of the stargate idealist.

We can be sure Rush will be back. Not just because this is tv and anything is possible, but because he is in episode 14 'human' , where Michael Shanks will play Daniel Jackson as a figment of his imagination.

I liked this episode, some more tech in it with more focus on the chair than other eps and Young leaving Rush behind was so utterly unexpected.. , it was great and will be a great base for a future episode for Rush to make his return.

Young has lost it and is not fit to command.Many things wrong with this series, if Greer had done what they said he did, he would have been returned to Earth long before Destiny and turned over to the Marines and tried and put in prison.Without a real doctor they should be using the stones to rotate in more qualified medical help and using other bodies to get your rocks off,whats up with that?Time to use the stones for Carter to work the problem.

Same here i don't like this series very much. I feel that they wanted to go with a BSG (Battle Star Galactica) approach. Where the sex and violence is hyped up. This episode is more of a stall then continuation. They do this to slow the show down. it's annoying

Oh, wow. In the other Stargates no good guy character would ever do something like this, I love it. I still can't believe he left Rush behind knowing when the ship jumped away they would never see him again. But being viewers we know Rush is going to find away back to the show, the writers would never get ride of a character as good and as compelling to watch as he is.
