he looks so much like my Merlin he acts the same way but if i closed the lid he would just keep playing with it intill there was no more bread box just splinters were it use to be.
Hi, they really are VERY destructive, but I only let him in there because I was planning on getting a new bin anyway. Can you believe though that now I've given it to him to play in, he just doesn't want to know about it? I reckon it's all to do with not being allowed to do something that makes it so appealing, just like with children heehee. I just love them to bits :)
hes trying to tell you that theres no bread haha my pink and grays hes sometimes harrasses the cat when she does nothign wrong and he steals my truck keys
rescues are definitely the way to go these days, I would recommend doing as much research as possible first though, also trying to find out as much background on the bird as possible. :)
I agree. ALL of our dogs and cats have been/are rescued animal. we began with rescued parakeets, then moved onto to quakers, then on to cockatoos. our first one, Peaches was thrust upon us three and 1/2 years ago. she has now settled in and we added an umbrella head to the household.
when you are told about a bird and it is either the local animal shelter or your place the choice is easy. for us that is.
I have 1 tiel. Her name is Beowulf because she has a mean streak in her. I wish I had some videos but I dont. I need to get a new camera. :p Dinks is so cute
Hi, thanks for watching, I have 17 Cockatiels and they live in an aviary in the garden, along with a Rosella. They are all at least 17 yrs old and lots of fun to watch. I'll have to try and put some footage on here of them sometime.
Do you have any birds? and are there any videos of them? if so, I'd love to see them.
Thankyou so much, I love him to bits (as I do all my birds) but as you can see he can be very determined when he wants to be, but there again so can I :) maybe that's why we're a good match.
Yes, I'm up in the north west (lancashire) I adore all birds, but I have to admit Cockatoos stole my heart many years ago when I was around 10 and I vowed to have one some day, it only took 34 yrs but here I am now with 2. Both are rescue birds, Billy is around 19 and Dinks is around 13. I am devoted to them...totally, just ask my Hubby :))
Notice at 0:18, how after he bites off a piece of the bread bin, then chuckles very loud! Jane says "That's not funny!" He was laughing at what he did, but then you can see on his face how Jane is upset with him.
just give him a wood toy or anything solid you don't need it anymore, they enjoy destructing objects most of the time..if you don't, they'll get bored and will destruct themselves by picking there feather.
Hi, thankyou for visiting. He has absolutely loads of wood to chew (untreated pine) which my hubby painstakingly cuts into lots of different shapes and sizes....but he's so naughty and funny when he gets the chance, and that's why I love all my birds! It's just a case of who can outwit who.......and he usually wins!!
I'm just glad you have the right attitude toward owning him. Most people don't tolerate that, and end up abusing or killing the parrot! And it's their own fault for not first finding out how parrots work!
Yes, and you have to learn to work around that. If you have a vengeful attitude and just get mad at the parrot for doing that, he'll just do it more. And then you'll either end up selling him off or finishing him off!
LOL, my Too (BE2) is always looking for trouble and if we had a breadbox he would be obessed with it as well! He took off a chunch of that wood..nice strong beak! lolo
You are sooo right! he always wants to go where he shouldn't. I sometimes wish I hadn't introduced him to the kitchen, but at least when he's with me I can see what mischief he's up to :)

Trouble is, those cute little fellows will chew up your whole house if you don't supervise them properly.
