  • what a voice, I've been a fan for 35 years. I love the way her lips kind of dimple as she sings. What a range she has, so strong, every word is strong even before she takes her next breath. I wonder where she studied music?

The Pips in those green Peter Pan outfits...oh my...I bet they hated that

  • good job , gladys Knight and pips

  • What a fantastic voice!!!

Was it a fancy dress week or somethin!! The Pips look like Robin Hood rejects!!

Still. A brilliant vocal performance. A true natural talent :-)

  • Wow! I just love this song so much. I hate the outfits but love the dance moves. Classic! I could listen over and over and over and have many times. Thanks GNatP Smooch!

  • i thought Alicia wrote this lol they both sound beautiful tho <3

  • she looks like gary coleman in drag

  • i didnt know peter pan was a background singer

  • they are not peter pans they are little robin hoods

  • Yes I grew up with this 45 of my mothers....the flipside was their version of tracks of my tears....I love seeeing favorites "performed"

  • LMBO at the Pips looking like Peter Pan rejects!!!! Oh Lawd noooo! But GK looks gorgeous!

  • This is a classic in every sense of the word! We should treasure this wonderful music and the artists. We are sadly lacking these days in terms of great music.

  • funny how she has the grammar correct and alicia has it wrong is were and was.

  • you say were if it's really unlikely to happen, (ie olive oyl singing 'if i were president') but if there's a chance it happening, one may use was. either way's fine for this song. depends on which situation ur in

  • the fug are they wearing...good gawd!

  • lmbo! the pips lookin like peter pan. lol!

  • @serialthriller100

That's the first shit that came out my mouth as soon as I clicked on this video.

  • Hoo.... How's the leprechauns in the background with their crazy dance moves! haha <3

  • Very nice!

  • Gladys Knight is SUPER.

Nobody interprets this song better than she. And I do not find the PIPS as a distraction at all.

They add to the whole and give a good background back up voice to Gladys..

No doubt when it comes to music , sports and a few other things Black people have a natural inclination to excel.

They deserve the acolades they get for jobs well done.

So does Gladys, still one of my preferred singers.

  • Affirmative Action? Blacks NEVER had to request equality in the "ability to perform". Yes, 4 recordings on record labels, but never in the "ability to perform". Blacks ALWAYS out performed Whites, Asians, Hispanics, and any other race of people. I guess that's y Michael Jackson out sold Elvis (who was a joke) and any other white recording artist.

  • Awesome! Alisha Keys sang this song

  • @hork111, that shit was funny...

  • i love this song an gladys knight but the pips in the backround r way 2 distracting lol

  • The Pips look like an affirmative-action recruiting video for Robin Hood.

  • ROFL... oh shit.

  • omg that was too funny.

  • Could there ever be another voice to equal Gladys' voice - never! I never tire of hearing her.

  • love both this and alicia keys' version...

  • Superb singer.

    Beautiful song.

  • I agree about the industry these days, not just in music either, film, directing, music, media in general is hard to get into these days unless you know someone, give people a chance...we're only human beings. a lot of the people that are out there sound like shit.

  • i didn't know this was from the sullivan show..:)

  • "If u had da strength..." These niggaz ain't strong enuff

    Dey money ain't long enuff

Bump heads wit me, dey find out da gunz do bus

We gettin paper in god we trust

Check out Strong Enough by 50 Cent which samples dis song

btw, dem niggas in da green look wac lyke a mafucka

  • @kain702

dude nobody cares bout 50 cent at this point. It was a different time period and it was acceptable for a group to dress in costumes like that. how bout instead of bashing musical history, you actually listen to it and appreciate the foundation it lays for all the stuff you listen to now.

and before you say I'm so old fart upset at young people and they're music...I'm 19 and listen to 50 Cent as well

  • Bashin music history? Y do ppl lyke u always get on Youtube tryin 2 start sum shit + make a mountain outta a mole hill? If I was gon bash dis shit, I would've said "Fuck this" + "Fuck dat", or "dis is a piece of shit". Get over urself, ur sum name on youtube 4 christ's sake. We all are on here. I guess u think by tryin 2 sound intellectual on youtube makes u intellectual in real life? I waz jus commentin 4 da hell of it cuz 50's song led me here

  • damn dude my bad. honestly I dnt even know y I commented on here. I was having a bad day already and you saying that just made me upset.

I shouldnt have sed nething to you since everyone is entitled to their opinion. I appologize, whether u accept this or not.

and no, I dnt go round just trying to sound smart on here, although I do know a lot bout this era of music

  • all good. like i said, it's jus youtube. not a big deal at all

  • That's, "All Right!"

  • It's a shame singers aren't given time to develop anymore. These days, if a singer like Gladys Knight came along she'd be signed, processed, and packaged generically for the masses before she had a chance to find her voice. The major music companies cannot totally collapse soon enough, if you ask me. Hopefully then we can get back to the level demonstrated in this clip.

  • @jimmyvicious preach, I love it.

  • @jimmyvicious You are so right about that. Look at Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan. I know some may not agree, but even Beyonce. All these ladies are talented, but are only doing what the record company directs them to. Alot of people criticize the artists, but I think its the industry that is the most to blame.

  • In the seventies these outfits were considered cool.

  • Sing it Gladys!!

  • Wonderful song & performance.

    Bad wardrobe choice.

  • Excuse me you negative posters, please have some respect. Gladys and her Pips had so much talent and dignity. I was so lucky to grow up in the 70os and witness her magic. My life growing up in the UK was magical because of all the wonderful soul artists gracing our charts, and Gladys was up there with the best.

  • beautiful woman with a beautiful voice...and she still looks good today!

  • Classic. I don't know who is rating these vids low, but they need to get a life! Sang it Gladys & Co lol =P

  • robin hood, robin hood riding through the glen.........

  • Did they borrow those outfits from the Jolly Green Giants family?

  • All comments about Sherwood Forest aside I absolutely love Gladys when she sings the verse that goes...

"You're like a diamond, but she treats you like glass...

Yet you beg her to love you... with me you don't ask!"

  • I guess the Pips had to go to their 2nd job after this performance... helping Santa make toys

  • des frissons,very great talent

  • Strong enough
