i'm the only person I know who liked doing jury duty.Perhaps if more people knew about Jury nullification ,understanding the power they have,it would be viewed less painful.

The jury has the right to not only render a verdict but to decide the law AND the facts in the case.Lawyers&judges do not want us to know this.

My mom had jury duty once and the case was so stupid, it was these guys who rammed their truck into parking meters to steal the change. How lame!!! But funny.

On a lighter note some guy from my town was found guilty of assault with a chicken.

I know youre just having fun, but how do you want the U.S. to defend itself against Al-Qaeda? Is there ANYTHING we could do that you would not criticize? I would have! This is why we have ambassadors and make agreements. This is why we have a world court (which the US refuses to join)

The most fearful thing to Kruschev was the Peace Corp. If we would have sent the Peace Corp into Afghanistan and some contractors to put in free internet, then the society could develope. Instead we send in armies of oppression that neglect there culture. US citizens have this idea that we are knights in shiny white armor, which is far from the truth.

pukaman2000, I agree with you. I definitely don't want to send armies of oppression. I think we have grossly over-extended our military. I understand the concept of blowback. But at the same time, even a non-interventionist must defend himself. Talking is good. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But if someone really wants to see American blood, talking may not be enough. Are you saying if you knew someone was planning to kill thousands of civilians, we don't have the right to stop them?

I've answered this type of question a few times, and it falls back to the idea of Tim McVeigh and the Oklahoma bombing. First of all, Tim was amiss in his doings. He could have ran for office on a personal vendetta, to get back at those people that upset him. I would have explained the entire government system to him, then persuade him to run for office rather than hurt people. So, no I would not kill the person, and torture is worse than killing.

If you don't want to serve on a jury, just show up with literature from the Fully Informed Jury Association and let them know during voir dire that you believe in jury nullification. If the judge doesn't remove you, the prosecutor probably will. If you truly know your rights as a juror and want to exercise them, you generally have to hide that knowledge from them. The government prefers uneducated jurors who will just do what they're told.
