  • Right 1 Do not put the joint on the sink its the weakest place you should make it stronger by putting steal strips in the front and back rail. joint should of been moved to over to the gable to make it stronger 2 cut the tap hole in the factory you need to use water as the possabilaty of the granite will snap with the heat also your cutting rig will not last as long. But the template was ok and yes am a granite and template fitter in the UK and i fit up to 3 kitchens a day 5 to 6 days a week

  • what type of granite is used in this video? Very Pretty!

  • @aeroberator The name of the stone installed in the house is Colonial Gold. You can find it at marble.com.

  • hey preety cool video guys..i myself work in a granite company in atlanta georgia and ive aleays wondered where they are actually made and how because behind the slabs it would say made i italy or brazil or canada !! all bundles would confuse me but now i see how it become bundle it come from different areas even though is the same name like st. cecilia crysta river or gallo vicenza or whatever but cool thanks guys video helped alot!!!!

  • nie=ce vid. but i didnt see them shim anything up? i know thers a chance it mite be all level. but thats is slim lol. also 3cm aint no joke lol. it gets pretty heavy lol

  • @Toad559 It wasn't shown on video but I believe some minor leveling had to be done. Thanks for the comment :)

  • its a different kitchen at the end

  • @bigpipeconnector Good eye!

  • Really nice video , im granite intaller in canada and most of our granite came from brazil ( as me ) and of course cheaper labour helps to keep the price " down "...

By the way , first time i see seam in front the sink and i dont think u guys install steel rodes inside the stone ....

ONE QUESTION : I see your crew with 3 guys and your process to do the joint take a while ... then how many kicthens a day u guys install ... ( lets say the same size the one in the video ???

    THX

  • @betorocha1977 Placing the seam on the sink keeps the "L" shapes intact and avoids a huge seam through the whole depth of the countertop. With the seam on the sink you have ~4" of seam up front and the one in the back is usually covered by faucets. The pieces around the sink ARE reinforced by steel rods. That one crew was also installing two bathrooms, a fireplace and bar in this house. If it was just the kitchen, they would normally do 3-4 installs in a day. As a whole company we do around 100.

  • @GraniteShorts I grew up highly involved in a granite factory, and i can verify that your joint isnt the best place. Maybe it may look nice and barely noticable because of the placement, but if you study granite you will know that placing the joint their is the worst possible place due to the granite being at its weakest point in that place. Putting pressure of the that area of the granite will cause it to crack and break. Granite is strong but not that strong.

  • @HighSchoolBabez09 what would be the best method.. regarding the the weakest point... what/where would be the strongest place for the joint... if you say that particular place in the video(sink area).. is the weakest.. where would it you out the joint if it is the strongest..

  • that has to be the most arse about tit way to fit granite

  • nice video, how do you attach the counter top to the top of the cabinets? And Why do you buy your granite from over seas when there is plenty of granite here in the states?

  • @calvinthedestroyer There a few methods of securing the stone to the cabinet, but for the most part a sealing adhesive is used. To answer your other question, it's simply because we want to offer the most variety of colors.

  • @calvinthedestroyer Thanks. The method of mounting the countertop to the cabinets varies depending on the application but in most cases a bonding silicone suffices. We do buy granite from the U.S. as well, but there just isn't as much variety available.

  • Hy I am from Romania and i am a STONE WORKER

And i hawe a guestion why dont you tell-us how the granite is soo shiny and the impermeabil liguid

And the advice too mentein and protect the shiny granite stone :)

  • Wow The guys who did my kitchen need to go to your school.

  • the cost of ss tops would put my family at risk as they would not get to eat.

  • stainless steel countertops would be my choice because you dont have to reseal it every couple of years like granite, and it wont put your pets and family at risk!

  • great video, but did you know that granite contains uranium that constantly emits radon gas for millions of years and is the second leading cause of lung cancer? no joke look it up. there was a guy that worked at a nuclear power plant that set off the radiation alarms every time he went to work, they later found out that this was caused by a large granite rock under his house. now.... his levels of radon gas were equivilent to smoking 135 packs of cigarettes a day! look it up, im not kidding.

  • Your story is most likely a very extreme example of a very specific unique piece of granite. Granite used for benchtops etc emits no more radon gas than the clay bricks or wood that your house is made out of. You should stop worrying about things that make no difference.

  • @Regalcourt101 and why would WOOD emit radiation??? LOL!!! granite emits no more radon gas than wood!! OMG that is RICH!! reality check, wood emits ZERO radon gas, just to let you know friend.

  • Greate video.I love stone products and how they are made . You use some granite sealers so nithing wont seep into it and change color,i heard that sealers have life spand around ten years, so do companies that install my grranite contertop can restore my sealer .

and does tomato juice destroy the sealer ?

My future wife is strongly against rock countertop .help me convince her :)

Ty, and sorry for my bad Eng.

    Best regards friom Croatia

  • Thanks for the good words Nathan. Most new stone is now vacuum sealed which really gives you a lot of protection.

  • very informational. for such small joints like the sink for instance, is it really neccessary to mix and use so much epoxy? the cardboard that was used to mix the glue on, is that normal? it looks very tacky as well as i can only assume its being used to cut costs of using a more proffessional mixing item like cups. well, i guess...

  • Excellent video, thank you very much

  • love everyting about this video...very nice..

  • Great video.

  • Thank you.
