  • I have troubles at time using the pencil. How do you do it with having to erase and redo the drawing?

  • You do great work ! I'm making my own as we speak.Yet I don't know how to draw on the pc very well. All mine are hand drawn then scanned. Then I use paintshop pro. None the less, great tutorial man ! Thanks.

  • Real quick, is it better to redraw every frame or to use the transform tools to be more exact?

  • does anyone know how to take off that auto straighten thing in flash? every time I drawing comes out straight and jagged

  • Thanks smyton...You've got what it takes to be a professional animator. Maybe I will see you in Gonzo studios in the next 6 years or so XD.

    P.S. Kickass background man...lolz!

  • U got a great voice

  • Thanks man! I can finally make my animation look more smoother with just a little more work!

Eh, practice and devotion will pull me though :P

  • Cant wait till the other tutorials! Thank you!

  • Thank You11!

  • Your abilities are impressive, so impressive that I can confidently say that you will, at some point in the next few years or so, be at a top professional level. Therefore, I will compare you to professional work I've seen. As for your animation skills, I think you're about as good as it gets. I've watched all of your stuff, and I think that if you dedicate yourself to absolute precision when it comes to actual drawing and physics, it will make everything look REEEAAAALLY good.

  • @ItzhakRoxMySox Thanks man, that means a lot :)

  • @smyton4tw You got it, anything for someone who's talented and passionate about it.

  • I cant wait for the next video ;D thanks

    You earned my sub

  • Hey, will you be making a tutorial on converting it to photoshop?

  • @iAmAxle Yes :) I'm in the process of moving/saving up for.. living so I had to halt the tutorials. I promise to have the next one up within the month.

  • hey ! I've tried this tutorial.. and haha damn.. This is the best tutorial for how to animate things smoother and even to move it better. Thanks ! I will send you the video when it's done :) realy thanks !

  • @IwzArt Looking forward to seeing it!

  • is there any free version(no trial) of flash professional to use?

  • @SunTiJohn well, I'm sure there is but most people buy them

  • @Pikadav my answer was already answered but thx, you were suppose to put a serial number to keep using for free ., it's allsome!

  • @SunTiJohn Yeah, it's called pirating.

  • I have a question, I tried importing my flash video file to photoshop cs5, and it said that 64bit cannot take it, try getting 32 bit, is that normal for photoshop to say? and i have another question, when i press the play botton, it plays my animation, but it plays very fast, and is there anyway i could change setting? Please answer this once you get the chance please, thanks.

  • @artbankai theres a way around that i had the same problem , export ur flash project as a jpeg file into a new folder this part is important , it will be alot of frames(jpegs in there) , go to ur photoshop go to file --> scripts --> load files into stacks and sit back and watch photoshop line up all ur frames(jpegs) into photoshop thats the way i did , but im just to lazy to do anything with it , lol let me know if u need any more help

  • @artbankai I use CS5 on a 64 bit computer and have no issue so I'm not sure why you're getting that.

As for your second question, Flash is defaulted at 24 frames per second. You can change it by going to the animation window (where we keep all the frames) go to the bottom and you'll see the number "24 fps". Just change it to something smaller :)

  • @smyton4tw Thank you so much on answering my question, and like yesterday, i figured it out i just had to change something and it worked, thank you so much for spending the time to reply to my comment, and i have one last question if you don't mind answering, what is the difference between ActionScript 3.0 and 2.0? cause i don't know which one to use, I've been using 2.0 but not sure if i should use 3.0

  • @artbankai Np :) I'm glad you figured it out. As for actionscripts, you don't have to worry about it for animating so either is fine. Actionscripting is used when your making Flash games and websites. (Not a bad thing to learn though if you want to make money with Flash)

  • I know that you use a tablet for your animations, But I have no idea how an a5 tablet works on a monitor. Could you do like a picture in picture kind of thing where you show a camera view of you drawing animation. THAT WOULD HELP SO MUCH!!!! thumbs up so he can see Please.

  • Haha your Background is so funny!

    You should make Anime :O

  • that was pretty cool, m in with animations

  • omfg please give me the link to your background! I havent ROFL'd so much in a while XD

  • Comment removed

  • whens the next vid lol

  • This helped a lot. i was trying to figure out if my animation would like show just frozen pictures, but this helped. I also was thinking that i wouldn't be able to do running, but when you said you had the same problem when you first started i felt a lot more comfortable. Thanks for the videos <3

  • Do i need premiere/?

  • @artbankai You don't. This is just my method of animating.

  • @smyton4tw Well i got it a couple days ago already, and i already finished this step of the video, now I'm just waiting for your next video, do you know when that next video will come out?

  • @artbankai I would have it now but the studio mic I used wasn't mine and unfortunately I don't have access to it anymore. i plan on buying one soon however. if it comes down to it, I'll use a crappy mic but I hate the quality it gives me :/

  • THANK. YOU. The first tutorial I've found that is teaching me what I want to know :)

  • thanks for the Help this guy really is something ^^

  • what happened to ur voice?

  • @TheFunAnimators he is just high, don't worry

  • @Pagatcha

  • @TheFunAnimators It sexified.

  • @smyton4tw How old are you?

  • Yo, one of the best tutorials ever. I love the 2d style animation. Please keep up with instructions, learning a lot from your tuts

  • Wow! Thank U smyton4tw! U r the first person that explains how ur journey was really hard at first but a when the time passes by, what you learn from and what you want to do with it LOL! Just like me :D Im really glad ur making video tutoirals for this particular section of animation which is really hard to explain and learn to do :) This part of animation is something I really want to do as an career and just for fun like u, klfiretear and the other guy :)

  • @kungfuremix Of course man :) I always enjoy helping talented people learn the technical parts of animating. I hope you keep at it!

  • its been awhile but your back

  • what is a version of Premier? what is premier in the first place?

flash is what your using in the vid

and photoshop is a picture editor

    but Primier?

  • @SunTiJohn Adobe Premiere is an editing software. I wasn't going to do a tutorial on it but a lot of people want to see how I edit everything together as well.

  • thank u so much4making these vids ^^

  • Good stuff

  • The studios which do the anime animation , don´t use Adobe Flach CC5 or something like that.

  • @SHINIGAMISAMA100 whats the point of your comment here?

  • thanks, i will hope more tutorials...

  • I have a feeling this series will help me a lot.

  • great jop man

  • whats the name of this program pls :)

  • @MrTaner24 Adobe Flash Cs4 i think

  • @iananimatorpro thank you :)

  • Blew my mind, i never thought about doing this! :O

    THANK YOU!

  • One person lost in an animation competion coz his opponent watched and learned from this video :D

  • thanks for making these tutorials, its really interesting

  • youve earned yourself a subscriber sir :D

  • kakshi vs that dude, best knowlege of kung fu ive ever seen used in naruto, well actually kakashi was doing karate, while the other guy avoided being hit anyway atleast we know the creator has some knowlege about fighting styles, btw great vid

  • @frozenfrostrichie that fight is kakashi vs kakuzu, the most remarkable animators working on that fight were Norio Matsumoto, and Hirofumi Suzuki, if you have some knowledge on animation you might know who this guys are. anyways just thought of mentioning it, as you seemed impressed by the animation ^^

  • Burp...

  • forever alone credits lol

  • :0 are those the in games animations ?

  • @Dancing406 No :) it's the animations for a project I'm doing

  • I had no clue you like Hollywood Undead man

  • @99rwrjr No idea who that is.

  • @smyton4tw oh i heard there main singer in the music sorry

  • @smyton4tw Theyre a rock-rap band with potential but need to write better lyrics

  • aaah thanks ! now I can get things smoother haha thanks ! Merry Christmas !

  • That's good! I use a similar technique in Gimp for all of my animations. Right now i'm practicing making my frames more fluid. And as you say, people shouldn't get lazy on the amount of frames. There's always room for improvement.

    Keep up the great work.

    -Elijah

  • could you possibly make tutorials on water movement and possibly how to draw characters anatomically correct???

  • WOW, Hi Im a big fan. Im makin a Naruto vs Sasuke Fan Animation Trailer. Can u give me any helpful tips? I made sasuke susanoo, but Im having trouble with the coloring. And naruto nine tail aura coloring as well. anyway, I love ur world :D

  • @Amaterasu002 The best tips i can give you will be in these tutorials :) I'll try to release them all asap.

  • @smyton4tw What do you think of rotoscoping ? Is it a good way to help learn the basic movements ?? Or it doesn't help at all ?

  • @PrydzAnimation trust me :D you won't learn animating ;)

  • @smyton4tw is it ok if u use the brush tool to animate?

  • :D WOOHOOOO, now I can start using flash

  • I don't even use flash for make my animations ;A; But this tutorial will be very useful! Thanks Nick!:D

  • @m8jin12 Well mellavelli went to school for animation But when he started animating fan animations he got help from smyton4tw and klfiretears ... He got The basics of animating in flash and coloring in photoshop from smyrna and kl ... Don't believe me ? Ask him yourself ... He even once help me get started .. And told me to watch some of kl and smyton's videos..

  • This is awesome!! Just a few quick questions, how many key frames do you usually make? Is it better to have less key frames and more in between? Thank you so much for making this!!

  • @whitefang4000 depends on time progression you prefer

    key's are the main thing

if there is good key's inbetweens won't matter a lot but in ideal everything should be balanced and fine

  • @Pagatcha I see... Thanks!

  • Nice Nick btw this is better than your first flash tut with the more encouraging speech like you work at a company and you telling your workers how to do it Very Nice

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I'm a beginner so maybe you could show me different tools in adobe flash and show us how to make backgrounds move. I've always wanted to know how. Thanks!!

  • Please make an tutorial on cleaning up. Something like a process that is going from sketches and those skeleton like figures to fullbody looking characters. Im having the biggest problem with that, thank you in advance

  • @stefan3372 here comes your knowledge of anatomy, proportions and many other stuff, you think someone can teach this in 10-15 minutes?

  • Please do background animation tutorials of different camera angles, characters running/fighting, etc...

  • @TECHUncaged read books watch anime and movies then dont be THAT lazy

  • @TECHUncaged I will be doing a background tutorial. However the rest is what you need to study on your own. Remember what i said to watch and study animes and movies.

  • @smyton4tw Do you know how to animate in 3d ??

  • @619randy No, just 2d :P

  • Hey man Nice job once im confident in my drawing i will come back to these great job

  • AWESOME!!!

  • wow.....maybe some day i'll learn that too....your work is fucking awesome!

  • Thank you for the lesson!!

  • @smyton4tw Smyton4tw .. The one who thought the great mellavelli and all of the rest of YouTube how to animate ... Thx for this tutorial and Merry Christmas and please fell free to critique my animations ... I need some serious help :/

  • @PrydzAnimation smyton taught ? he taught mellavelli? i thought mellavelli was a genuis u only see once a decade , his animations leaves me speechless how he use his backgrounds and how smooth action looks , his uncompleted naruto movie left me amazed

  • @PrydzAnimation who taught what exactly. lol

we share only expirience of using programs

    drawing skills are different

  • @Pagatcha So you mean to tell me .. No matter how hard I try ... Using the mouse will be pointless ?

  • @PrydzAnimation The mouse can be used for pen tool or smaller things but that's basicly it.

  • Very nice. Looking forward to the next one.

  • Thanx for the tips!

  • do you need a tablet to draw in this program or can you just use a mouse ?

  • @kostaawe just mouse is bad, i'd more say - waste of time : )

but yea you can use it

  • @Pagatcha ty

  • @kostaawe Technically you can use a mouse like how KLFireTears used it when he began animating. However you'll need to use the pen tool which I find time consuming.

The reason a mouse doesn't work is that we don't get full use and control of our hand. Think of handwriting and how hard it'd be if you had to handwrite with a mouse. Same applies to drawing and animating.

  • @smyton4tw thanks

  • lol wtf is with that desktop

  • OMFG this beats KL's tutorial!! thx alot, really helped!! :D

  • Good for teaching people about key framing, you should go over extremes, flow, timing and easing as well wile you're making a video series on animation. Showing how to loop smoke effects and wave effects would also be useful if you know how, their isn't a English video tutorial on some of those yet.

  • @de8struction That's actually a good idea. I will show timing in PS. However with extremes and easing, I wasn't going to go over because that's more towards you knowing how thing move (frame progression). However I'll talk about it just so people have that idea in mind. Thanks for the good note :)

  • @smyton4tw Oh yea, and frame progression. I'm glad you're going all the way with this bro<3

  • amazing tutorial, I always thought you should only add one in between frame, Guess I was wrong :P

  • Epic. O_O

  • sex.

  • thats helped

  • btw, how large tablet do you have? Your line curves are quite detailed.

  • @Gahanun It's about 12x10 inches. it's a Wacom Cintiq 15x.

  • Amazing as always! Finally some useful tips. The Key frame and Tween frame method is much better than going frame by frame from the beginning till the end. :)

  • I WANT YOUR WALLPAPER PLEASE!

  • @WillyTung its in my deviantart account. :) Go to my channel. the link is in my "about me".

  • LOL DESKTOP

  • do you have a tablet?

  • @CRYOmine Yes, a Wacom Cintiq 15x

  • @smyton4tw oh ok, thanks man!!

  • Thank you so much!!! I'm studying animation by myself and it's very hard to

  • teach us mora

  • You're back :D

  • Nice tutorial thanks for showing me how todo anime.

  • I'm having a serious problem when I try this on Flash CS5. Whenever I draw a line, after I release the mouse button the line automatically tries to 'fix' itself and makes itself completely straight unless I add a lot of curve. I can't figure out how to turn this feature off!

  • @BanjoBallZ You have it set to "straighten". on the tool bar, make sure the pencil is selected. Go down and you'll see a button that looks like a circle inside a square. next to that button is another button. click that button then change it from "straighten" to "ink". Hope that fixed it!

  • @smyton4tw Yea that fixed the problem!

  • @BanjoBallZ Great! I had that same problem when i began Flash.

  • Comment removed

  • @BanjoBallZ your using the wrong tool mate :P

  • Did you make your desktop background?

  • Thank you so much!!! I'm studying animation by myself and it's very hard to find something like this.

  • Very nicely done tutorial, very helpful. I look forward to future ones!

  • Awesome bro,(:
