I like your strategies, just saying. I'm a high school freshmen trying to plan ahead for saving money for these things and I like how you do this, picking what is the best deal out of your choices.
I hated buying books! but then I got smart and decided to use the materials from the Library...I'm an English major so I could just check my books out at the library. And sometimes I would rent books for a 3rd of the price by online download. you can rent the download version for 180 days.
@MissLaurenB18: Same here. just go to the oasis account and then find your schedule, then there's the textbook column. I have Writing & Rhetoric, Two film classes, and the First Year Seminar class. So four classes.
@LeslieMoniqueTV Oh ok, I don't wanna seem slow but what is 1st yr seminar? I have that as a class I don't even know what it does lol. I have writing and rhetoric too and some other writing classes.
WAIT! LISTEN TO ME! as i recent college graduate *flips hair* i would say don't buy books before the class starts. Wait 2 weeks into the course before you see if you actually even NEED the book. Professors will tell you up and down that you need this book come to find out you only open it twice the whole semester. Those two times that you need it you can switch off with someone else who bought it!
@applesandmustard You can always get them later, granted if it's a special book it might be a little hard to find, but like you, i'm always wanting to pay the least and if i can prolong that by a month or two or even NEVER, then yea i'm gonna do that. I can't stress enough that professors always have REQUIRED reading and then books end up collecting dust on a desk.
@applesandmustard: Thanks for the tip, and I will know for myself once I get there and see how it's actually. Like but I hope we use them, but these books are pretty interesting. So I might just read them anyway! :)
@applesandmustard did you mean to put "@applesandmustard" applesandmustard lol. I made mistakes too -_- but I'll get my books later because I'm soooooooo broke right now lol.
@MissLaurenB18: I think ApplesandMustard was replying to her own message adding more information. BTW, I got like two of books today. I'm going to start reading them.
@applesandmustard: Very very true Apples. But my thing is, if we don't read it, then I'll get my money's worth and read it on my own time, and not only that... Doesn't prices go up? And thanks. I know this for next time. *flips hair* :)
@LeslieMoniqueTVI'm so foreal lmao My major is fiction writing. I really want to take acting as a minor but I had to drop it for recommended classes. What's your major?
great video! i usually find the books online and compare prices before the class starts, then go to the class and see if the book will actually be used in the class. some professors base their exams on lectures and use books as supplementary reading. not gonna waste money on supplementary reading...just sayin'. :]
@jeskajuice: I just don't do the last minute shopping. That's why I'm just gonna get them now. And if they're not gonna use them, I'ma use my money's worth and read the damn book myself!!
