Fuwokao: This is not my video, so I don't know how your angry comment ended up on my channel. For the record, I am not opposed to gelding as long as it is done with sedative and some help with pain. What is your big thing about showing people "who's the boss"? I don't get why you are so hostile. — Humane Observer
well there spme strong feelings about castrsion with outanatheza if go to big catration they make the most offal squeeling sounds you can emagen I asume after ahile you get used to it some pigs are only a few days old they take them a disance from the barn so the mother will not be ablee to hear it pigs are very smart and its low to let one waiting in line pickedd up by there feet and there throat slitt theer isa vidio of a goat theye take the head off
You know I have never done the ligation thing but I think I'll do that in the spring.. I am curious and I think I'll ask one of my vet friends, since the scrotum isn't sewed back up, if a sterile elastrator band or similar sterile band could be used proximal to the emasculator instead of doing the ligation with a needle and threat.. It sure looks like it beats having to sit there holding the emasculator on each testicle for 20 minutes, especially when we try to do about a dozen horses..
Folks, if that donkey wasn't sedated, he would be dangerous to handle. Generally, equine patients under similar circumstances are dosed with a couple of different tranquilizers before they are handleable and safe to work on. Because you didn't see the administration of a sedative doesn't mean that it's not there. Plus, they give the antibiotic right in front of us. Generally, the vet has already checked out the little guy and probably gave some other preventative shots, as well. Great job!
I approve of this video as opposed to many others, pig, horse, or otherwise that I've seen. Most others do not sedate the animals being castrated and it is quite obvious by the sound and movements they make that they are in a great deal of pain. Not to mention the lack of sterility in most cases. Thank you for showing the proper way of castrating an animal.
some of you have no understanding of animal agriculture and because of that lack of understanding and education you attack those that are in animal agriculture. If you knew anything about animal agriculture you would know that you have to put a horse or donkey under in order to do a castration because otherwise that whole operation would be impossible, its for the safety of the animal and the highly educated vet.
I cannot imagine the fate of those who do perpetrate such agony upon the innocent. Does an animal or a human feel no pain because they haven't the words or voice to scream it? Is it not evident by the panting, the stiffening of the legs as the Henderson tool is applied, that this poor little donkey is suffering great pain?
People who operate on animals with no anesthesia are the vilest of the vile. I am ashamed to be the same species. You lack the compassion gene. You will get your due.
Why don't you buy us anethesia instead of bitching over youtube? We farmers have to cut cost to earn a living, It's easier to be a douchbag shouting non-sense than really living on farms to see how lifes were. Btw, it happened to every livestock you've ever eaten, unless your a vegan, otherwise, you are simply the collaborator of animal's misery.
We farmers should strike to starve these hypocrite city folks and to demonstrate them who's the boss.
Nice job, "Mr Herriot"! Some folk who have made ill-informed comments didn't observe that the donkey was under general anaesthesia and that you gave the antidote towards the end of the clip. That donkey should be less aggressive and less noisy from now on.

@redsmooch989: they never seem to use any pain killer on these animals. They can't tell you if their in pain. They do need their faces kicked in.
