  • I want to hear originals

  • Nicely done! Next 'Yngwie's 'Leviathan' maybe?

  • @COEXISTential hahaha Anything by Yngwie is tough. I prob won't even attempt. My first finger pad is still screwed up from like 12 years back so I can't play like I want to but I get by. thank ya!

  • Awesome cover of awesome song, what more to say?

  • @NisseEricsson thank ya! You COULD also say "check's in the mail" HEHEHHEHEHE

  • Hey Surge, i had to Break away from the home work video's for a Moment and watch this Video,,Not Bad for an Old Timer :-).. you can really make that thing Sing,, Cool back round images.. keep up the good work,, ive nothing better to do..

  • @karlbuttler thanks! Yeah, guitar is a fav hobby of mine. Just wish I could have done it from the age of 18 on instead of kind of forced away from it. then right as I went to do it again in 2000 i injured many fingers and couldn't play for 10 years. :(

Now, I play a bit but still very careful.

  • Wow, serious skill!

  • @Swidhelm thank ya! Those solos were hard to do. had to modify tony's a tad. heheh but it's close.

  • You have got some talent there mister -well done!

  • @MrAshphillips thanks!

  • Man, I bet those plane tickets must have cost a fortune.

Good job. Obviously I'm joking about the travel cost lol. Dude you gotta do modern day cowboy by tesla! I love that song. Or maybe Paris is Burning or even Humans being by Van Halen!

  • @wheelmanstan thank ya. I used to play that Tesla song back in the 80s. Lots of tunes I can't play due to my tuning. Got the top string down a step so all the classics that use the top string are harder to do. I might do something later but I gotta get on some other things. thanks!

  • Wow dude. I've been working on this song for about a week now. What a sweet video!!!

  • @ShredHeadJHJ thank ya! Don't copy my last solo. hahaha it's not exactly right. I fudged it to something I could do instead of all those spider-finger taps Tony likes to do. good luck with it. It's prob my fav tune by him.

  • Great job!!! Always awesome to see fellow guitarist n fans of Tony MacAlpine

  • @jacobXshinobi1 thank ya! Yeah, I have been a fan since the first solo album (edge of insanity). But not up on all his stuff as I've had to work to put food in my mouth, etc. and other stuff coming and going.

  • Outstanding rendition of an entrancing classic. Thanks for posting!

  • @gbalulis thanks!

  • Zeppelin-style lettering... sweet.

Hey who's the asshole with the sticky thumb?? WTF

  • @2eelShmeal was it? I'm not much of a zep dude so no idea. one dislike! haters gonna hate. hehhehe

  • Good... seriously good

  • @FinflazodeTurroai thanks!

  • Really great man!

  • @toxicdooney thanks!

  • Just watched and LOVE IT! Nice to see you playing again! Cant believe how well you still play! Ive always been a fan! Love ya TS!

  • @evancole Thanks. yeah, I'm not dead yet. HEHEHHEH But I've been doing this and that. Just piddling at home trying to scrape up enough $ each month to survive. See ya later!

  • This is so cheesy! But the playing is good.

  • @Siipilintu thanks.

  • @TruthSurge That neck thru body really provides a nice sustain assuming you used that specific guitar to record this.

  • @FreeThinkingCrusader It's a bolt-on and yes, I used that guitar exclusively to record the tune. the diamond one is just used in the vid. It has decent sustain but it's a tad heavy and not as physically loud as a lighter neck/body. I really prefer a light body and maple neck but this is all I have right now until I can find me an old RG-550. those are great. thanks.

  • @FreeThinkingCrusader But also the settings I used helped add to the sustain. Lots of gain with some front end compression.

  • nice one man

  • @000whiterabbit thanks!

  • @TruthSurge thanks to you man for good sounds

  • @000whiterabbit yeah, the vid may not be great but I think I got my tones pretty kick ass. :) thanks!

  • This is just absolutely fucking AWESOME Truth!! Your playing is spot on perfect with tons of feeling and precision, the tone is silky smooth ear candy, and I love the video look with all the cool effects. Thanks for sending me the link man ! :)

  • @6stringsbrainfingers thanks a lot! appreciate that. The tones turned out really good but I spent a lot of time trying to get them sounding like the real record. I prob spent more time on getting the tones than on recording it! hahaha but I think it paid off. I'm really happy with the tones. The vid was of course just thrown together to have something to upload. thanks!!

  • Excellent job.I can't figure why your vids never show up in my sub box anymore.I can't even figure out how to see the channel comments.YT is sucking massively these days.

  • @cosmicskydaddy1 thanks. yeah, when YT made their last design deimprovements, I just gave the fuck up on YT. I don't care anymore. :)

  • @TruthSurge One of the problems is I subbed to Alex Jones (I know,Yikes!! I know, don't make fun of me :-P) and they put out so many vids,it fills up the subs, but for some reason,my subs after about the letter "R" don't show up.Like you say,deimprovements.fluckem. :)

  • Sick Playing SKILLLZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! THIS IS FLAWLESS MAN!!!!! IN MY OPINION IT SOUNDS EVEN BETTER THAN TONY MACALPINE ORIGINAL SONG.!!! KEEP ROCK MY BROTHER.

  • @davenash1000 thanks! well, actually one part at the end of the solo was kind of hard for me so I modified it. Tony Mac is a great player and musician. But considering I worked regular jobs most of my life instead of playing AND that I hadn't played at all from 2000 to 2010.... I'm not doing too bad for an old white man. :) gimme a shout!

  • @TruthSurge You sound like a better guitar player than MacAlpine. But don't quote me; I'm a bigger fan of 60's and 70's music, rather than 80's ballad :)

Come out with an album, your airbrush and voice-over stuff is great, but your guitar work sounds amazing!

  • @Satanos777 thank ye! oh, MacAlpine really is a monster. He's a tad sloppy live when he does the really fast picking but at that speed, who notices? hehe but he has more facility due to A) classical piano from like 5 years old and B) spider fingers.

But I do all right fo a white boy. HEHEHHEHEHHE and old white man.

Oh, I'd love to work on a new album. I'm thinking kind of like rock/newage/melodic/soundscape stuff. I don't know or maybe just balls out rock.

  • Beautiful cover! Almost more infatuated with your version; it's such a fantastic rendition both as far as quality and cleanliness of sound. Great tone, great visuals, superb playing. :)

  • @matrixmonster110 thanks! Well, I just tried to copy the original pretty close and I think I did that pretty well. I thought about playing my own stuff over it in the solos but it seemed a shame to do that when the solos were so good as is. How could I improve upon them? It didn't make sense. So, I just learned them pretty closely and pieced em together.

  • Dude, you rock! Cover any Rush tunes?

  • @Kingtiger213 thanks! man, I used to play the hell out of some Rush tunes! I was big into Rush for a while. Not the early stuff like pre 2112 or even 2112 but more about Moving Pictures and such. Red Barchetta, Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Free Will, and even some from La Villa Strangiato (like, the whole side I guess hehe).

But with my axes tuned to drop D, I can't do them. :( I need another guitar tuned NORMALLY. hahaha

  • :))))))

  • @chrisdimareli thank ye again! hahha

  • is that a new inlaid guitar?

  • @lawbag1 thanks. the black one? no, it's one I've had since like 1992. Those diamonds I cut from automotive adhesive tape and put on and a friend sprayed some polyurethane over the body to hold them in place. thanks!

  • @TruthSurge looks like something Richie Sambora might have used during Slippery When Wet era...

  • @lawbag1 yeah, it's a cool guitar.

  • always love your choice of songs to play and upload...

  • posted a second song, and I might post one from my metal daze (days)...lol

  • Really great dude, i love to listen to a good guitar player, I wish i could play something besides a stereo, lol

  • @Moontanman heheh yeah, back in 1973 I didn't know one chord. Took lessons in 74 and from there just kept playing and listening and copying.

  • @TruthSurge I played a little organ and bass guitar in the early 70's but now i have limited use of my hands and the stereo is my instrument of choice, hearing you play is a joy.

  • @Moontanman thanks. yeah, I started on organ/piano and within the first few lessons, realized I hated it. so I quit. like maybe 1 yr later I took guitar lessons (acoustic) and those strings nearly cut my finger tips in two but I persevered and was able to play in a few months. Once I got some chords down and a few songs I quit lessons and just taught myself. my ear is my best instrument, imo.

  • You should be a Rock Star! (again)

    Love the tech jargon, too.

It would be an interesting YT experiment to do a 'Taste Test' of your finger sync. How many think clip A vs clip B.

  • @calmreason yeah, well, problem is that if I'm really playing the parts, no one would be able to accurately say which is live and which is synced unless I make a mistake in the live one. :) I do make a couple of really small errors in this vid but not big enough to motivate me to redo the parts. thank ya!!!

  • Beautiful ts .. love music that takes my mind off the grinding of everyday life :)

    Your so talented!

  • @jungian9111 thanks! Yes, life should be enjoyed mostly and I think the powers that be have rigged it such that the OTHER people must work to merely support them. I have this idea that we don't need commerce or money to make our world work but that's another story. :) happy 2012!

  • this is not why i subbed, but i like it :)

  • @MrWaddefak thanks. Yes, I'm a bad boy. :( I should be uploading the dang anti-Jebus stuff! well, this one was sitting for months and I had to finish or I would feel cheated. thanks.

  • *drool*

  • @rozeboosje like Pavlov's canines, you drool every time you hear a distorted guitar. HEHEHE

  • A (truth)surge of pure talent ! Awesome man!

  • @eat666shit thanks mon!

  • That was the longest orgasm I have ever experienced, between 2:24 and 3:10. I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke. Thanks, now I need clean undies. Maybe I should ask Romney if he can lend me a spare magical pair.

  • @saxmanchiro haha thanks. yes, Romney has several pair to spare because you can't be caught w/o a good pair of magical undies. You never know when demons might try to infest your pubes. :)

  • TruthSurge you look like jordan rudes playing macalpine:))))

that was great cover man and great sound!!!!

  • @chrisdimareli I don't know of him but I'll go watch. Yeah, I totally didn't try to do much game face because you never know if you're overdoing or underdoing or whatever. who knows? I don't even have any good clothes anymore. :)

Thanks for the compliment! I spent a ton of time on that so I'm pretty happy with it.

  • @chrisdimareli oh, ok. I see now. I LOOK like that guy. hahaha I thought you meant I used the mannerisms of him while HE played guitar on this cover. But I saw he plays keyboards and he does have a resemblance to me or visa versa.

  • This went straight to Facebook. Fucken awesome man.

  • @mightyzygote thank ye! what does it do on Facebook? I got on facebook one time and nearly took a hammer to my PC monitor in frustration. It was or is the most disorganized piece of cat vomit I have ever had the displeasure of enduring. :) Maybe it's... better now?

  • @TruthSurge Nah, Facebook is still shitty but I shared this video there anyway, get it out to more people.

  • @mightyzygote thanks mon! I don't get out much so any referrals is great! hah

  • Great playing!

  • @panurge987 thanks!

  • Wonderful! You again make it look effortless, but we all know the years of blood and sweat involved to get that good! Now I suppose you'll go and paint a fantastic painting, make a very funny comedy video, and have a chat with Burnie.....Multitasking!!

  • @raindog951 thank ya. No, painting is kind of out for a while. Just not interested anymore. There is no outlet for it where I am and for what I'd like to paint and I'm not really as good at it (the originality part) as I am guitar/music/christianvids/etc. so, I think my near future is finish my empty tomb series and work on some more guitar and short stories. thank ya!!

  • nice work man! do you still have the fingertip problem?

  • @phatjesus008 thanks. it's better but yeah. Mostly now on thumb pads and index fingers. but they have improved. hoping maybe in a year or two they'll just be normal but I think ... maybe not. they get irritated easily.

  • @phatjesus008 thanks. yep. it's much better over the last 2 years and especially the last year. thumbs are the worst. but since I've worked at home for 4 years, they improved and playing the guitar a little each day more and more has improved them more. still not right tho and lots of those bends you see me do are actually being done with the fingernail, not the pad. :( but I do what I have to. thanks!

  • Reminds me of Double Dragon for some reason, I guess because I don't listen to this "metal" sound very often (not saying you sound 8-bit, just reminiscent of DD ^.^)

  • @Truthiness231 well, the late 70s and 80s were the time when I was really into guitar and music. beyond about 1985, I was still into it but wasting my life with college and crap jobs. I am working from home now and infinitely more happy. thank ya. I don't even know what double dragon is. heheh

  • @TruthSurge XD I dunno why I was thinking you were younger than that... anyway it was a very popular arcade game in the mid 80s to early 90s.

That all aside: you're still amazing! Keep up the video series and we'll keep watching (not sure how everyone else feels but personally I'd like to see a resurgence of Redneck Ronnie ^.^).

  • @Truthiness231 Double Dragon was an arcade game?!

I thought it was only a "nes" (nintendo) game.

  • @Truthiness231 hehehe YORE REELIJUN..... might......bayyyyyy (don't do it)

    hehehehhe

I'm 48. But I don't recall that game in arcades I was in. I was all up in some arcades around 82, 83 and off and on but early 90s... prob not. That's about the time I got my first PC and started to play games on that.

  • Great sound. The background 'pictures' are beautiful, especially in high resolution & full screen. Good haircut. We, the fellow follicle-ly challenged are encouraged to also embrace our baldness.

  • @NeoPsiTom yeah, when you only have the horseshoe growth, you just shave it all off sometimes. hehe Makes you look like Mr. Clean. But it's all good. :) thank ya! yeah, man, I finally got guitar rig working and it's got some really good sounds but I seem to have to really tweak them to get them like I want. Lots of eq mostly.

  • I didn't notice any glitches on the first one. Must have been very miniscule.

  • @TempleOfInanna2 was a slight gap in clips causing me to kind of jerk a bit in one spot and the playing of one clip was happening too soon ref music. so those were the two.

  • Liked, favorited and commented, I love you dude!

  • @nuckable thank ya!

  • Dude.. I have said it and still do, you ARE the most talented man in America... FX puppets music, art, voice.. and looks..you got it all brother

  • @SatanRobot looks? oh cmon man. HAHAHAH well, I'll run with it anyway. HEHHEhEH thanks fer the nice words. I just love creating stuff that's all. I get depressed when I think of the many, many years I wasted working "regular" crap jobs for $6.50 / hr and the countless hours of video games and other stuff. I mean, seriously, I could get back 10 years of my life easy and REALLY get good as some of this stuff! But I think guitar is my best. :) thanks!

  • @TruthSurge

Very smooth jam Truth. I like the ghost effect on the video too. Excellent.

    Happy New Year!

  • @0gods thank ya. he's my instant harmony guy. he only shows up when I need a good harmony part. hehehe happy 2012!

  • Oh so very very nice. Great harmony track.

  • @SuperSoylent2 thanks! I basically copied the original as close as I could except a few small solo spots.
