  • I always loved jazz versions of "Autumn Leaves". Cora Vaucaire was the French artist who recorded it first in 1948, composed by Kosma and Prévert (lyrics, "Les feuilles mortes"). Yves Montand covered it in 1949 and Edith Piaf sang it live in NY in English in 1950... However, it seems that Yves Montand sang it first in 1946 on stage but recorded it only later. Since, it became one of the most popular French songs covered by the greatest jazz musicians.
