I am SO inlove with this song. I heard it on the tv on the pops channel while cleaning and I must say that I had to stop what I was doing and just sit and listen.
SO VERY BEAUTIFUL!!! SO INLOVE!!! I want to dance to this song so badly. Its like some Cinderella fairytale dream come to life in song and dance.
What versions do you deem better? I have Iona Brown, Hugh Bean, and Jean Pougnet and I think all, including this one have deficiencies. I think this may be the best so far. If you could suggest one, especially an earlier one I'd be very grateful. I've tried this piece before I was injured, stopping my career but never studied it enough to play.
Actually, I meant to say "sound" better. There is only one earlier recording by Isolde Menges (v) with orch. conducted by Malcomb Sargent. I don't have it nor have I heard it.
If only we could hear Marie Hall, a very fine "old style" violinist play this. Vaughan Williams dedicated it to her and she premiered it with Adrian Boult, unfortunately too early for a good recording. Thanks for this and all your recordings. You do us all a great service.

There are several better versions posted on Youtube that are better but this is the only 78 set I have and it was a request.
