  • I heard in the narrative that there is "Chinese" input in your "Giant Panda Introductions "...I'm curious are the Chinese paying you to look after the Pandas in your care ...for the expensive research that you are doing in providing the most natural possible 'ZOO'environment/ecosystem for the Pandas in captivity ...after all... the authorities in China 'claim ownership' of all of the Pandas in the world ...another thought typed for the record ;-])

  • lol, I don't think Wang Wang knows what to do :)

  • @Terilyn04 ...cute and funny ...sort of ...Wang Wang KNOWS ...albeit instinctively ...all creatures do ...including pandas

btw even though you typed "I don't think" I'm certain that you do think ....combining humour cleverly with intelligence...

  • So cute! I loved! :3

  • instead of mating, they r playing like kids, lol! so cute!

  • Thanks for this very informative video. It is interesting to see the various steps zoo staff go through to encourage successful breeding. It is also interesting that some people object to intervening in the natural mating process. Yet human doctors often prescribe or suggest ways that are technically intervening when humans are trying to start families. I think this is a good thing so long as the animals are not stressed - which they certainly don't appear to be in this case.

  • @ZooVisitorMM I was curious to see if there would be a response to my comment ...you typed "some people object to intervening in the natural mating process" which evidences clearly that the only comment even using the word "object" is yours ...in case you want to understand ...I'll share this thought with you ...I was under the impression that one of the purposes, in fact the primary purpose of a Zoo is to create an environment as natural as possible for the animals that they choose to exhibit

  • @gaiagale Thanks for sharing your thoughts in detail. You brought up another interesting point. I think you are correct that most zoos do want to create an environment as natural as possible for the animals. But I think that is more to please visitors than a necessity from the animals' perspective. Also, I think in most cases it is enriching and good for animals to be given opportunities to experience things they wouldn't experience in the wild. (continued)

  • @gaiagale (continued) But, regarding the introduction of the two pandas, it is still an introduction, whether or not it is the same way it would have happened in nature. And, if humans want to preserve species, there will have to be times when intervention is necessary and even desirable, I think.

  • @ZooVisitorMM ...cont'..d ...so that the animals can thrive ...so when the animals manage to procreate the animale provide the evidence that the environment may be one of the indicators as to the effectiveness of the 'natural habitat' ...that aside ...clearly my comment is one of sharing an observation and appreciation of being able to see and hear the Pandas

  • oops I meant ...the animals provide the evidence

  • this narrative (even though it is articulated clearly) makes the title Giant Panda Introduction and the "put our Giant Pandas together for the first time" appear more like an intervention than a natural mating process ...just a thought

btw ...it was lovely to seeing and hear the pandas 'being together'
