Im amused by all these comments saying "we eat candy!" I have had diabetes for ten years, and sure we all slip up but it's best to reserve sugary snacks for when you're hypo. Increasing your insulin to accommodate excess sugar leads to weight gain. I actually really enjoyed the song, it brought a smile to my face.

You can pretty much eat anything you want as a diabetic. It's a misconception that your diet becomes severely restricted. It's all about portions, and management. The point of injecting insulin is to correct high blood glucose levels and to cover meals.

Ah, do not worry- It gets easier with time, and depending on how you are able to treat it, you end up being able to have all kinds of chocolate (Just in moderation and with preparation, which I think makes them taste even sweeter!).

I have type I, and I use an insulin pump. They are pretty good for flexibility. As long as you plan things out, though, even using syringes or pens can accomodate the occasional cookie.
