This is one of many songs that Charles Feltner wrote and song but never got a lot of coverage. I think the Singing Americans did a great job. Rest in Peace Br. Charlie Feltner.
Despite the lack of a low bass, this group held my interest, and I bought quite a few of their albums. Their live album with Strickland/English was phenomenal. IMO, Strickland was at his best on that album....and Burke, despite not being low, has one of the most pleasant and melodic bass voices around.
Yes BBC is still around I work for KWFC the radio station they own. As far as the name the Singing Americans is concerned if you are from Heartland no one will ever here you anyways so use it as you see fit. Tell the grand puba Davidson hello will ya.
What's even more humorous is someone from Baptist Bible College acting as if the first two names of their college (Baptist & Bible) mean anything to them anymore.
People like this are the ones that have a computer full of pirated software. I graduated from BBC and obviously couldn't help but find it humorous that someone from Heartland would argue about the need to have permission to use a name that is obviously trademarked. These guys worked hard for the name. Name your own group and make it famous and don't take the short cut!
There are many groups out there that have the same name. But when you take the name of a big name group that has been copywritten, then you need legal permission and hings of that nature. I'm just telling you, you got a long road ahead of you. As far as the whole instrument deal; your church needs to be a lot more open minded when it comes to drums, guitars, etc. Again, it's all mentioned in the Bible. I would never bring my group to a church that had such a stubborn beliefe
There were other forms of STRINGED instruments in the Bible such as harps and other instruments. All in the pattern of a GUITAR. And as far as naming. The group name Assurance is different from Brian Free and Assurance. I know some things about Charlie Burke. If he were to know that someone was out there using his group name without his permission, he would take some kind of action I'm sure.
Well fisrt you would need the money to buy the name of the group from Charlie Burke. And I don't think it's going to be cheap. Second you would need to branch out from the 4 walls of your church so you can add a full live band. Your church on the other hand needs to get real. There's nothing wrong with drums or guitars, and they need to lighten up and read the book of Psalms where drums and guitars are mentioned.
The guitar wasn't invented until the renaissance. And we are allowed to use track with light drums. And about naming rights, I'm sure many people use the name. There's a women's trio at Heartland baptist Bible College, and their name is Assurance. Yet, there is already a group with the name Assurance.
Phil Barker was an amazing tenor singer. i would like to know what he is doing now. I would also love to see someone reform The Singing Americans, and bring back alot of their classic hits. And if/when the group is reformed...PLEASE go all out and get a full, live band! No more of this soundtrack, or partial band (piano, and bass) junk. It's killing the way quartets sound. there are so many groups out there that have totally lost their power and drive by going to tracks or just piano and bass.
I'm planning to start a group called the Singing Americans. It's a tio now, but I hope soon to make it a quartet with a guitar, bass, and piano. We'll also hopefully have a soundman to make a total of eight members. Our church doesn't allow drums or electric guitars, so that's why we wouldn't have a drummer. I'm also gonna check with Heartland Baptist Bible College and see if they would release our albums.
Jim and Tammy left Heritage USA March 17, 1987 that is listed in Bakker's book "I Was Wrong"
This was the same lineup that taped the 1987 album" Live and Alive" that featured "Bridegroom Cometh" and also "Past To Presence". The album was originally done just like you would see in this setting. Then the Riversong Records added drums, strings and other instruments. Baritone singer Ed Hill would leave that fall and then hired Scott Whitner to sing lead and Inman went to Baritone.
I loved the singing americans. That live album they did with Michael English was about my favorite album of all time. I loved Gold CIty's Double Take Live album too.
Dwayne Burke installed the sound system for our church. He has remarkable talent. He sang with a group called Jericho (not sure of the spelling) for a while. They were a great group also.
I'm married to Phil's step-daughter. He will be singing at Welcome Home Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, NC on Easter Sunday morning. I believe it is the early service: either 8 or 9.
it' rfeally old clayton sang with them prior to 87 cause at that tie he was with the kingdom heirs

Maybe it's just my age, but I don't have the energy to get worked up about copyright law and whether or not some people use musical instruments.
Or maybe it's the fact that I have a life.
