The person driving that speeding car should have their license taken away.

And don't get me wrong. I take my car up to high speeds on the highway, however, I'm not stupid enough to overtake someone at more than 25 miles per hour without my brights on because they need time to recognize your presence and then estimate speed and distance because anyone could change lanes at any time.

And on roads with no speed limits that's exactly what you're supposed to do: slow down when coming up on people.

I know that. He still should, or at least get fined heavily. It should be illegal to overtake someone like that.

I drive on the US highways at 120 mph on occasion. When I overtake people, I slow down. People do stupid things on the road. You never know when someone is going to turn without you knowing because they you do need to have a good idea that they know you're coming, or not be going fast enough that it would be deadly if they did turn in front of you. It's common sense.

I hit a fox at a speed of 300 km/h. Its all about how you can drive. It was no problem. Dont forget that in Bavaria you also have fences on the side of the Autobahn. So you usually dont see any animals. The twin-xenon lights of the car also help to look pretty far. Its not as dangerous as you think. At speeds beyond 320 km/h I am always more worried about the tires.

It is not dangerous because in Germany you learn to concentrate when driving. In other countries people fall asleep while driving or they eat or write text messages while driving. That is dangerous!!! The Autobahn is safe because we have good cars and (most people) understand the rule to always drive on the right lane except when passing!

Of course people drive more aware / concentrated when they 1.drive fast OR 2.drive at lower speeds, but know that fast cars move around them. That's why it is safe in Germany despite the high speed. Whenever I drive to Amsterdam or Zandvoort I hate the part in the Netherlands because the speed limits are rediculously low. Driving that slowly is (120km/h or even slower) makes you tired after 5 minutes. But dude, keep driving slow in the Netherlands and we keep driving fast here! ;-)

There are 1000's of cars on the road at night still, and they could make the mistake. Driving is always dangerous full stop. Nevermind 300kmh+ That's suicide

It is useless to discuss these kind of questions here anyway: I live in Germany and drive at up to 275 km/h almost every day (when traffic allows) for 16 years and I am happy that i have the right do do so. I am in the US quite often and it is obvious that driving in the US is much more dangerous than in Germany despite the strict speed limits. Shitty cars, weird people and bad roads... And also statistic data shows that the Autobahn is one of the safest highway systems...
