Yeah why making the cocktail so weak? Long island's are supposed to be make with a lot of alcohol, besides with the ratio of lemon to alcohol would no doubt mask the flavors, i would not pay for that one.
At my local watering hole, Long Islanads are served in a 16 oz pint glass. Fill glass to top with ice, add 1 shot rum, 1 shot vodka, 1 shot gin, 1 shot tequila and 1 shot triple sec, add a splash of sour mix (about 1 shot) and a splash of coke (about a 1/2 shot, just for color)then shake with a shaker, pour into glass and garnish with a lemon slice. It should fill the glass right to the top
Yes it should be half shots (25ml) of the 5 white spirits (including tequila), lemon juice NOT sour mix and yes, coca cola.. The only optional thing is to use sugar syrup to balance the lemon juice, but some would argue that the coke is sweet enough.
Then fundamentally they aren't the same drink. That's like how every jackass that orders a martini expecting vodka is shocked when there's gin in it (if it's made right).
No offense but coca cola????? Lemon juice????? There's too much ice in there!!! What bartending school did you go to??? You totally made a different concoction... Less ice. Use the actual sour mix, no coca cola wow and noooooo tequila!
What the hell are you talking about? Topping up with cola is necessary - it's just for color but every single recipe for LIIT calls for it. This is as bad as that guy that claims there's no tequila.
go easy go easy... if you type in Long Island Iced Tea to google... I highly doubt you are going to find any two recipes the same... at least i couldent... I personally would never add that much sour mix, but thats just me... but i acutally prefer jose cuervo dark tequila over clear...
Weird fact of Finland: Long Island Ice Tea is illegal to serve in Finnish bars..
That is true. Of course you can always order it, but you probably won't get it done right. It is illegal here to serve any drinks that have more than 4 cl of strong alcohol in them..
Ok, first off- you are using wayyyy too much sour mix. Also, no one puts tequila in a Long Island. Plus you're supposed to shake it up like a martini. The proper garnishes are a lemon AND a marachino cherry. Also, you're supposed to use the wide straws rather than two small ones. You fail at making a Long Island. Fail.

I agree, I've always made them/had them made with 1/2 ounce (at least) of each liquor. These are meant to be strong.

nope, not right. Half shots are more like it, quarter shots are for lightweights.

Hm. I guess LIIT need tequila. And marachino cherry is not for that cocktail. But she made a drink with such a strange colour. TT

A Long Island is 5 liquors: Light rum, vodka, gin, triple sec, and yes, tequila.
