I came here because of the loony tunes show. Gossomer sang this song, and i thought it was so beautiful. i also like this version. whoever took the pics for this, all i have to say is wow. They all look so magnificent and magical.
@1969Mystique Yes, and I think it was her second apperance with McPartland, recorded either late 2003 or early 2004, since the archives of that show indicate it was Winter 2003. I don't know the exact date. Jones' first guest appearance on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz was a live performance at the Tanglewood Festival on 8/30/03, and the song list for that one did not include "September in the Rain."
@stephank2 My mistake...I just found out that the 8/30/03 program was "Jones' second appearance on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz." So this song ("September in the rain") is from an earlier program, and must have been recorded earlier in 2003. I just don't know exactly when. I have seen this "first" appearance touted as a concert, and available as such for downloading (at a very reasonable price of €1.52 for the whole album).
I'm asking around Norah's videos, I heard her do this beautiful jazz number on the radio one day, I mean it was seriously moving, it was slightly melancholy. Anyone have any idea what it was? It wasn't really bluesy like this one.
@HydroLimey As it turns out I found it, it's called "Court and Spark" and it's off a album called the Joni Letters by Jazz pianist Herbie Hancock. It's incredible. Have a listen on Grooveshark.
God I love this song. Looking down at 6th ave from my apartment only with my night lamp on and a glass of wine, I feel so relaxed and at ease :D
