@Echsenmenschen I dunno, I honestly think these guys are more powerful in studio than live. Attila's voice is awesome on album, but live it tends to get a bit tired and flat quickly. Also, the lack of a bass guitar leaves something to be desired. Still, they are an awesome, underrated band.

I've just been surfing youtube through the related videos area, I started at Sonata Arctica and just continued to see if I could find any good bands and I've found so many It's crazy, I've found PowerWolf, Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, just to name a few, im so happy :D

I do know of Hammerfall, I have two of their albums: Masterpieces, and Renegade. On the other hand, I have heard of DragonForce but I don't listen to them, so I will look in to them sometime :)

may I ask if you like the standard power metal then check out lost horizon they are really good, pagan's mind is good they are a mix of power and prog, angra; a brazilian one, seventh wonder; a power prog, eguy; even though they are kind of no longer a power metal band, check out their album madrake. Check out lost horizon i am sure you will like them.

I just saw them live two days ago at the Summer Breeze 2011, a four day long open air metal festival in Germany. Apart from the obvious - them being fucking AMAZING! - I don't think they take themselves too seriously. They DO know, they look a little ridiculous in their outfits, and the stuff Attila Dorn, the singer, said between the songs was really, really funny as well. They just have a great time playing their brilliant power metal. I don't think there's a really deep meaning though

But all those catholic artifacts the use, their clothes included, also help marketing the band by defining their style and theme(s). It's their producers and publicists that come up with all those ideas, so the band can be marketed to a specific music niche.

I personally give a crap about their looks and their lyrics, I look more for musicianship. Powerwolf is 6 over 10 in my list.
