  • Current favorite.

  • 80's music will NEVER DIE in the 21st Century

  • My favorite refind song. So very bad ass.

  • @StewieFavre Good friend of mine!! Love him!!

  • OK, I'm, from Louisiana, raised on this kind of music by my older siblings, have seen Cowboy Mouth I don;'t know how many times live, HOW THE HELL DID I NOT KNOW JTG WAS IN BOTH BANDS?

  • Wow, that is some really lousy lip synching

  • GREAT SONG ,,ICONIC 80'S

  • These songs remind me that I was that young. They also show how there were true bands with hits instead of todays one name schlock performers.

  • Good tune!

  • yeah!! man..brings back memories of youth!

  • 91X San Diego!!

  • Excellent video, I love the harmonies and the chink skanks at the end. Whats with the creep in the white mask?

  • In the early years of MTV, this was an often played song and although it never became a hit it had everything anyone could want from the collection of garage-bands that had MTV to thank for their brief stardom. Sure the lyrics are incoherent, but that's what makes a garage band good (think "Louie, Louie" by the Kingsmen). Very little history about the Red Rockers who seemed to have drifted into obscurity down on the Bayou within a year or so of this offering. An "Essential Eighties".

  • Great song!!

  • 93.1 JACK FM " playing what we want !" Culver City , CA

  • 92.7 WLIR NY "dare to be different"

  • hmmm people in New Orleans (N' Awlins as the tourist try to pronounce like locals) sound like people from New York - sort of Brooklyn sounding - such as the "Yats" - those are people that grew up in the lower 9th ward (nyt ward) where room sounds like rum - its like saying people that live in Manchester have a NW accent and therefore sound like people from Liverpool

  • LMAO! Yeah, I also thought he was singing "Join Up, Join Up." I love this song, no matter what the words are. LOL

  • @PetraNova1 Double Lol :-)

  • @PetraNova1 That's what I thought too!

  • @Tamastara Because the lead singer grew up in New Orleans, I suspect that his southern Louisiana accent is to blame for this. I really shouldn't be laughing at him, because I speak English with a heavy Russian accent. I "massacre" the pronunciation of English words all the time. LOL

  • I never knew the name of this song and I always thought he was singing, "Join up! Join up!"

  • @BestBBQ1 Lol... :-)

  • battered

    chapped

    pussah

  • @ManifestPanda say it with mehhh....

  • PATTON!

  • what arms?

  • So many great 80's lost gems and here's yet another great one also destroyed by a lousy video (pretty common practice)...ask Hall & Oates...LOL

  • Greatest song right next to Big In Japan and One Night In Bangkok

  • Mysterious and wonderful?? Gross! I hope you rethink that comment after one totals your car!

  • pc, I belive they're referring to the lovely Chinese ladies. Mysterious and wonderful are the Asian Women.

  • the hair, the gel, the attire, the shoes matching black coats were just the never fading memories of new waves...and i'm one of all this stuffs!!! new wave is cool!!!!

  • 1983 video.

  • Jamie On Lead FTW!

  • great song, remeber it being played on the radio in 1983, but it didn't sell as well and never made the top 40

  • A true 80's one hit wonder.

  • @braineaterbob - are they really a one hit wonder? the song did not make the top 40, peaked around no 45.

  • @jph0917 Ok, an almost on hit wonder, and probably not even that if it weren't for MTv.

  • @jph0917 You can still be a one-hit wonder even you never had a top 40 hit. The Waitresses ''I Know what Boys Like'' peaked at #62 and they were still able to get recognition for the song. Men Without Hats who had the #1 hit ''Safety Dance'' had another top 40 hit called ''Pop Goes the World'' (#18) and they're stilled labeled as a one hit wonder. A one hit wonder is about that one song people associate you with regardless of chart success. Either you're hit or a miss.

  • @PopCulture20 - Good Answer! I asked the question to see how many different opinions I would get. Not many. Couple of points - Safety Dance did not hit #1, it peaked at #3 behind Billy Joel (Tell Her About It) and Michael Sembello (Maniac) in Sept of 1983. Billboard chart researcher, Joel Whitburn & columnist Fred Bronson, have published several reference books on the Billboard Charts. The official definition of a One Hit Wonder is an act that hit the charts with One and Only One record.

  • @jph0917 Oh yeah Men Without Hats did peak at #3 with Safety Dance & I love Joel Whitburn books. I'm trying order his Dance/Club Chart addition because there some dance songs that I never knew existed and they are so good.

  • Did Edge listen to this...repeatedly?

  • @REMONSTER Yeah, I'm sure he built himself a time machine, went forward a few years, stole the chops from the Red Rockers, went back and built a career spanning three plus decades. I'm sure in no way was it the other way around.

  • Vagina.. vaginaa!!!!

  • God, this band really turned gay...

  • love this!!! thank u thank u thank u..... i'm home again ( in the 80's)

  • I haven't heard this song in years. Thanks for posting it!

  • fuck this is catchy tune :)

  • lead singer John Thomas Griffith now of Cowboy Mouth fame. yea baby.

  • cheesey 80's goodness

  • no way!!! I have been looking for this song since I was a kid !! omg! thank you!!

  • Jim Reilly's drum intro is bad ass

  • The next superpower!

  • when i was in china 1980, i saw many wild pot trees, 12 ft. tall totally blooming

  • drummer looks like Duckie...esp with the RayBans on.

  • Raugh out Roud, this is a reaRRy good song and video. The girRs are reaRRy reaRRy hot!

  • @pbmax Raugh applies to the japanese people, not the chinese. LOL.

  • What kind of dancing is that called?? At 1:19

  • @pbmax hahahaaahahaaa!!

  • Red Rockers still ROCK!! Check out lead singer John Thomas Griffith who is now guitarist for Cowboy Mouth who also ROCK!!! Especially in their LIVE shows!

  • The UCLA girl who ranted about the Japan tsunami would've gotten beaten if she were in this video! She's not too popular right now!

  • The lady that appears at 1:03 is so pretty. Look at her at 3:46....Wow....Reminds me of a lost love. [sigh] Does anyone know who she is?

  • Was not the best effort, but always a classic to me. Still enjoy listening to the group these years later. Brings back some great memories of friends from that time.

  • The way the singer throws in another syllable and holds "Chi-na" just a bit longer at 1:47 was always my favorite part of this song. It's a tad off the beat and it works perfectly. Little things like that make great songs even better.

  • Under "80's" in the dictionary, there should be a link to this vid.

  • Anthony Michael Hall's stunt double on vocals.

  • They sure did pick some pretty Chinese Women for this video..

  • bigger fags

  • @ganglionable Make you feel like a big man to say that. Your mother must be so proud. Wait, she's underneath me, I'll ask her.

  • @peterzang so

  • @ganglionable Stop spreading your poison. People get hurt when 'people' like you make homophobic remarks. There's no earthly reason to post such things. Unless you realized you're gay and can't handle it. Just go away.

  • @peterzang why you haten b

  • what year of the 80s?

  • Got a good laugh. Proved to my cute 11 year-old daughter... that that adorable little hat and vest combo was NOT the original creation of the Jonas Brothers... and who ever else. Lesson: there is nothing new, just a new audience for it. LOVE THIS SONG!

  • @AJAXKID123 The Jonas Bros would kill for a song this pretty and hooks this big.

  • Ahh, the days when music and video's were great!!!!!

  • yummy yummy plus good song

  • Kind of a goofy video, but a killer song.

  • Reminds me of Wiretrain......band on the same label and the same guitar sound

  • Wow.. back in the day.. love the old music videos! for sure a treasure to all..

  • I love this song but the CD I had with this song got ruined and I was sad but then this video came about and I'm now happy :) thank you

  • @thechildrenzplace......Yes, certainly! Okay....semi-hot. :)

  • Jack Green And Red Rockers are my favorite from that era

  • The woman at 1:05 in the video is HOT!

  • @60187guy serious?

  • Just an incredible sound.New wave sound is classic 80's and a great time to grow up and enjoy these bands in their prime.

  • I will never understand what this song means LOL

  • Four comments just don't do this track justice.

    It's timeless.

    You can't help but reminisce.

  • Another 80s new wave masterpiece.

    Stellar.

  • classic 80's white boy dance move @ 1:20

  • @4thdaymusic yes !

  • Yeah, an anthem (and very strange too!) but ya gotta luv the guitarist w/the black hat on & the Chinese girls smiling. These guys are from New Orleans & environs and really are Good as Gold! Next, on to Gary Myric, "Message Is You"...

  • awesome song!!!!!!!!!!!!!
