i actually have to point out one thing about the beautiful ideas behind asian media.
the ideas actually aren't that great. its their addictiveness and the way they are formulated to be appealing that are great. western media, yea sure it may appeal, but it tends to get a lot of... diversity in consumer opinion.
in other words, asian media is geared towards appealing to the consumers, whereas western media is geared towards expressing the suppliers' abilities.
once again *sigh* I relate thoroughly to this. Ever since i got hugely into kpop, people think it's because it's simply that they're Korean/Asian and I have exploding panties for these kpop guys. *sigh* no. i don't even look at any of the kpop guys with a sexual or romantic ideal. I had to alter people at Uni's perspectives because the second they heard I like Asian stuff, they presumed all I watched was anime and that if it was Japanese, I would automatically fall on it. I really get what your saying. I come from Alabama and have a love for the Asian culture and entertainment. I think it's really good and it's something I like to watch. i actually have to point out one thing about the beautiful ideas behind asian media.
the ideas actually aren't that great. its their addictiveness and the way they are formulated to be appealing that are great. western media, yea sure it may appeal, but it tends to get a lot of... diversity in consumer opinion.
in other words, asian media is geared towards appealing to the consumers, whereas western media is geared towards expressing the suppliers' abilities.

I had to alter people at Uni's perspectives because the second they heard I like Asian stuff, they presumed all I watched was anime and that if it was Japanese, I would automatically fall on it. I really get what your saying. I come from Alabama and have a love for the Asian culture and entertainment. I think it's really good and it's something I like to watch. One of my friends likes it too, but always says "Oh, look! A asian person!! Isn't that your thing?" So what? mmm. It's kinda different where I'm from, cos Kpop is really popular; the guys listen to SNSD, the girls are fans of DBSK/SUJU/2PM/SHINEE/BEAST etc.
I liked my favourite band for their concept and style of music alone (neo-japanese, so does that count as niche marketing?). i was really resistant to kpop in the beginning for some reason (i blame my sister for playing Perfect Man wayy too many times) But in spite of myself I fell in love with SHINee's Lucifer, and that's where it all begun XD
