can somebody explain to me how do winners get decided in a sport that is staged?
i have always wondered...
do they actually smack each other about even though the winner is decided beforehand?
i don't know about others but to me it's pretty confusing why people would risk injury(because yes smashing someones head against the mat will hurt ) for a staged sport
like many athletes they ruin their bodies by the time they are 40. I remember watching chinese acrobats and thinking about wrestlers. It might be practiced beforehand to minimize dmg, but no matter what they do they put a lot of strain on their bodies.

Pro wrestlers deserve the most respect, even more than any other sport in the world. Do you see boxers or MMA guys go through flaming tables? Fall off of ladders? Slammed on thumbtacks and glass? Get hit with barbed wire? Do crazy aerial moves like bouncing your legs off of the ropes in the corner then doing a corkscrew landing on your opponent? Pro wrestling IS an art. Look at matches suck as the 1989 Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat matches or the Undertaker/Shawn MIchaels match at wrestlemania 25.
I think pro wrestlers can be divided into two groups. Those who are more of a entertainers and those who are more of a stuntmen. @garethac81 Well the fighting itself is fake. When they "punch" each other in the face that's fake. They pull the punches and don't really drop kick each other in the teeth. But I know what you'e saying. Yes, they are actors, and some of them very good at it. But people shouldn't disrespect the guys for putting on the show they put on. That shit's hard on a body and those guys deserve all the credit in the world for putting on a good show.

That's probably why the WWE now focuses more on the PG-rated family friendly Entertainment aspect and not so much on the actual wrestling matches. To avoid injuries. Other organizations such as TNA and ROH do put a'lot more effort and energy into the matches.

Thank you! I used to wrestle on the indies and if you're not conditioned your going to fuck yourself up or the person your wrestling. But it's easy to say wrestling is fake when idiots don't see the wrestlers with torn muscles, broken bones, knocked out teeth, knocked out eyes, bumps, bruises, puking your guts out, concussions, urinating blood...etc. Wrestling is a work, not fake.

Pro wrestlers deserve the most respect, even more than any other sport in the world. Do you see boxers or MMA guys go through flaming tables? Fall off of ladders? Slammed on thumbtacks and glass? Get hit with barbed wire? Do crazy aerial moves like bouncing your legs off of the ropes in the corner then doing a corkscrew landing on your opponent? Pro wrestling IS an art. Look at matches suck as the 1989 Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat matches or the Undertaker/Shawn MIchaels match at wrestlemania 25.

I think pro wrestlers can be divided into two groups. Those who are more of a entertainers and those who are more of a stuntmen. You can compare it to other jobs like working in circus or movie stuntmen but its not a sport. And thinking the way you think the most respect deserve those who take the biggest pain? So... Do you even know of the technique and skill it takes to be a pro wrestler? Or how hard it is to do? Look up a Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat match or some 5 star match from Japan and tell me it isnt beutiful. They deserve the respect because they put their bodies on the line FOR THE FANS. Which no other athlete does. They have the toughest road schedule over any other sport. Do I respect the jackass guys? No because what they do isn't an art or a performance, just stupid acts. I don't say being pro wrestler isn't tough job. I say you can't place pro wrestling above sports. One thing: can boxer or mma fighter or NFL, NHL player or even bouncer become successful pro wrestler? If they have charisma and suffer the pain, yes, they can. Can pro wrestler become successful one of above? Except bouncer, veeeery rarely (thumbs up for Brock Lesnar) (And yes, I know bouncer isn't sport).

That makes no sense. I've seen guys in NFL try to become a pro wrestler, and you know what? THEY FAILED HORRIBLY. Saying other athletes from other sports can be pro wrestlers doesnt prove a point. They'd go insane with the constant wrestling day to day, the road schedule, and much more. From what they do, and do it for the fans which other atheltes don't do, they should be placed above.

it takes more than charisma and taking the pain, u have to understand the psychology of a wrestlng match, other wise its a series of random moves, thats why so many trampoline wrestling matches are shit to watch, cos alot of them are just doing random moves, if u understand the way a wrestling match works and care about the way the match goes and looks you'll be a great wrestler, wrestling is an artform, just like art, every moves progresses the story of a match forward, similar to a movie
