  • My favorite singer of all time. Her rhythmic sense hooked me first..and her playfulness

  • I am at a loss for words. This lady was just spectacular. Thank goodness for these little snipits of her greatness!!!

  • Y E S !!!!

  • Just delightful! What a high standard all around.

  • greatest scatter I think too!

  • The best scatter? For this period, I'd agree, but Betty Carter was more improvisatory, later, and after that there was the immortal Jeanne Lee. We all agree that this is terrific though, right?

    Thanks for posting!

  • She is simply the best scatter. Such a free wheeling imagination.

  • Great!! Anita was one of the best voices of the 40-50s years.

    Thank you friend!!!!

  • Anita and Les. Great

  • This song was originally done for four saxophone players. Anita takes the part of one of the sax players here. Notice how one of the sax players sits out this song. It's because Anita is playing his part with her voice. She was a jazz icon and one of the greatest voices that the art has ever known. Thanks, JS, for posting this clip. I always get a kick out of it.
