Then I was getting mad from him telling to draw better, I said I give up. He took over my spot on the page and drew. It was beautiful, later I found out he meant draw with feeling. And with meaning.

I got directed here from your Message to My Subscribers #13 video and I am glad I clicked the link! I have not written any stories or drew any book.. and all I did was sketching on my Moleskine sketchbook since a year ago. I brought that to a local publisher to see if they could help me to print some postcards out of my urban sketches, and I got offered to be a on-off illustrator instead. @KHcarnation I honestly wouldn't go with self publishing. All it gets you is copies of your books and no where else to go. By going to a publisher, you're ensured that it's going to be advertised, and that at least someone knows that it's out there.

I haven't gotten published, so this isn't a professional opinion. Just what I know from searching around for advice.

Mark, thanks for giving us an idea of the scope of time required to really master something of this magnitude. I often get frustrated when it takes me an hour to do the simple sketch of an eye or hair and for it to end up being something I am unhappy with. I forget that when you draw, you have a plan and have thousands of hours of experience behind you. Thanks for helping me understand that as my first year drawing, it's not going to come all at once.

I'm trying to perfect drawing on paper, though, and get my character designs fleshed out more; then I'll have to define the storyline more...yeah.
