@Anaconda43VR if Federer was at his best level of tennis during the 90s he wouldn't have been able to win as many grand slams, but then neither would have Sampras or any of the other top pro's. If anything Federer is one of the most balanced and skilled players that ive ever witnessed in the past 20 or so years of tennis, he is great as a server and volley and also from the back of the court, to argue that he isn't the best, or at least ONE of the best tennis players in the world is silly!
@katakid Not only that. Because of the seeding in tournaments they both play in, they have to play each other in the final. Because Fed was so damn good on clay he always met Nad in the final where he lost (Nads big lead on clay). Now if we look at the hard court and grass court head to head, the reason there aren't many matches is simply because Nad couldn't get to the final to meet Fed. If Nad had reached those finals more often Fed would have a huge lead in H2H on grass and hard court.
@katakid sorry ran out of characters, but basically what that argument shows is that Federer is the best all court player and easily the greatest of all time but with all due respect Nadal is the best clay courter.
@Anaconda43VR in a tough era??? are you kidding me? you calling guys today like Djokovic, del potro, soderling and any other guys in the top 15 weak??? Excuse me. they could woop sampras's ass anytime if they were pro back in the 90s.
@geoffybellofiore I guess you are 10 or something like that, the 90s were one of the toughest time to be a tennis player. The top 10 guys today wouldnt won a single game against Sampras or Agassi at their top. Face it Federer has work harder that anyone else today, in the 90s there were more than 20 guys that worked as hard as he is working today, but unfortunately those times are gone. Now they are rich before they get to play a major.
