With so many important things going on right now, this seems like just another chess piece in the "war of ideas". Shut down the Public's access to Social Networking & you shut down the "Everybody is instantly aware of new news" machinery.
This allows devious pundits to flood the news-space with only their take on details, the awareness of which they also control because of this clamp in the social networking systems.
I blame wall street. They own the net & represent international greed.
