I have been debating between an anteater and genet for a while now, reading up fully on both. I read on your page that Anteaters don't care for other animals though... so sadly I may not be able to get one as I have many, I'll be fostering cats too. Also, I have no idea how to go about getting one. They are so beautiful though, very adorable.
Genets make bad pets especially if you have other pets or ever plan to add new pets. The breeders most lie about how good genets are. One chewed off it's feet due to the stress of being rehomed, one died from the stress of a new dog in the house though in a separate room, one when the family moved started attacking the cats, one started attacking the owner after the furniture was rearranged. They often even try to kill each other so it is hard to breed them.
Oh these were not my animals was just told about them. a genet in your situation is a horror story waiting to happen. and no fixing them does not help.
What about a skunk? They really make nice pets if you can keep it away from the cat food so it doesn't pig out.

What about a skunk? They really make nice pets if you can keep it away from the cat food so it doesn't pig out.

Yeah Stewie inside. That was still the old hammock though. The new one is much bigger since they like to share.
