  • we just found a sten gun, a revolver and a machine to make false passports + my great grandfathers diary from the consentration camp he was in. and it still worked. amazing

  • If anyone's interested - the uploader has uploaded the continuation of this video as mosquito_fighter.mpg

  • I don't care what some people say, I actually think the stem looks pretty good, I'm thinking about getting a replica.

  • Funny how just after he says "aim was less than true" they show a man-target riddled with bullets.

  • What an awesome piece of engineering. I have seen police in India carrying Sten Guns and when I asked one of them, they said all low level police have access to them and they are brilliant piece of engineering and never get stuck and do the job in close combat. You need to be very intelligent and smart to make simple things. Another reason why AK47 is so mass produced

  • When a toy factory can make your gun, you've done something right.

  • These guns are better than people think, it's actually a good sub machine gun, not particularly attractive by any means, but it's cheap, it works and anyone can use it.

  • damn, this looks crappier than the grease gun

  • The Sten IS great engineering - that's the whole point of the video - it was not meant to be as fine as a Thompson or Bren - it was what the British needed and it was delivered brilliantly. You're missing the point.

  • @Twirlyhead Actually you are missing the point. Have you ever fired a sten? It is a piece of garbage. It uses cheap materials, and is cheap to manufacture. The whole point of the sten was that it could be cheaply manufactured and supplied in large quantities. It was also given to many resistance groups during WWII to those in Europe, and Asia. It is a load of garbage, very low quality. Only up side is that it is easy to produce. This is the point that you have missed.

  • @LordWellington15 no it's not, why do you think that it was used in Korea and Vietnam (australia). I do agree that it was cheap but it worked and it got the job done. Also, it could use captured german rounds

  • @LordWellington15 It's not a "piece of garbage". Any gun that can fire and kill someone is a useful weapon, it had a good rate of fire too. I don't understand why people think certain guns are bad. It may of been outclassed by more attractive and expensive guns like the MP40 and Thompson. But it was supposed to be cheap and it achieved that. It was a succesful weapon and allowed resistance members to disrupt Nazi occupations.

  • @MrCommunismftw Maybe its because I have actually fired it, dis-assembled and re-assembled it. You really need to stop watching movies and get into the real world.

  • @LordWellington15 Your point being? Did you even bother to read what I said? It may of been outclassed but it got the job done. It was a rushed project to create a weapon which could be mass produced. it was not intended to be fantastic, just simple to make and use. It achieved it's objective, therefore it is not a piece of garbage. If you think it is, please by all means go and design your own gun using the same materials and make something better.

  • Come the apocalypse, everyone will be using STEN guns.

  • ahhh... british engineering... not very reliable, but awesome

  • @extondude Considering this was made extremely quickly, it wouldn't be reliable, but if you think british engineering isn't reliable, the look at a Bren gun, L96A1 Sniper rifle, Enfield assault rifle, I could go on for ages with great British guns

  • @Mengoraa i am british, and i know we have brilliant engineering skills, thats why we have one of the best, if not the best tank in the world... the sten was quick and cheap, not very reliable but it got the job done

  • @TheGamingGuns it would prolly need to be custom made

  • The sten MKII was used by the Canadian military. My Dad trained on one when he was in the navy in world war 2, and when he got his commission he had one under his bunk, in case the ship was boarded.

  • @usermacable The Sten was used by the Canadian army because at the time Canada was in the British empire

  • i give my kid more money for lunch than what this gun costs...hhmmm

  • magazine and feeding was the biggest problem, could be easy to produce an upgraded mk3 in the home nowadays.

  • @tommothedog you got plans?

  • @traceradam not to speak of, plans are very easy to find on the internet. the quality of materials is the main problem, using adjusted materials and slightly adjusted springs you could easily make a very reliable 'mk 4'

  • They tell it like a fairy tale: And this, little children is how the Sten Gun was made.

  • This is why guns will always exist in all levels of society.

  • looks like a type 100 only it doesnt run on batteries....

  • us British had some great guns back in the day

shame most of them are illegal to own over here now:(

  • man that thing looks deformed kinda like a deformed gun

  • two pounds 40 shillings - wow!

  • go brits!

    -amerikuh!

  • very nice, interesting vid - is the rest of the programme available ? only it sounded like they were moving on to something important.

  • The Sten wasn't as bad as this video makes out but still very informative. Cheers

  • what show is this from?

  • That is one sweet gun room at 1:20

  • I want to own that fattree.

  • bring it on! (sterlings films)

  • Great vid. Where did you get it from?

  • Great video, THANKS ALLOT!
