  • I think she looks fabulous!

  • As a little girl named Roberta, I hoped she would say my name, but I kind of knew it was unlikely, I felt like such an outcast lol.

  • alien cranium under the hair?

  • @QualityTimeChannel awesome. i was gonna say that.

  • Brought back a ton of memories...thanks for sharing. I watched Romper Room in the late 50s and early 60s. I still sing the Bend and Stretch song to my grandchildren. And (as someone else posted) I don't ever recall her mentioning my name in the magic mirror! :)

  • so much better than kids on prescription uptake inhibitors etc... we were blessed with the pee-wee morning show called 'ROMPER ROOM' with it's magic mirror song and more.. in my toddler years, actually was delusionally convinced that at some point I would appear on an episode... ;8 how's this for a 'kick in the pant's' generational communal youTube flashback.. everyone that recalls 'romper room'... celebrate with a comment

  • my son said her hair is like a fluffly bubble :)

  • She said my name! Yay me!

  • I remember watching this show in the late 60s to very early 70s, but I don't remember the host being so pretty! The magic mirror always made me feel a little weird, because the rest of the show was so straight forward.

  • I'm sorry, but could her hair be any bigger? Going back and revisiting my youth, a few things need explaining.

  • Thanks for this - fond memories!

  • I'm diggin the do-bee in the background. Remember do-bees and don't-bees????

  • You know, this woman NEVER once called my name!! I'm almost 48 years old, and I still remember waiting for her to call out my name "-p Sick, huh??!!

  • @PiggyAndCo

You're not alone. My friend Jacqui told me that it was a childhood trauma for her that not ONCE did the Romper Room Lady EVER call out her name during her ENTIRE childhood. Now she has Post-Traumatic-Romper-Room-Disorder...

  • Wonderful,,, ah when thing and people were decent.

  • This is sooo much fun

  • what year was this shown?

  • @meterman432110 Sorry, I don't have the exact date. I believe from what Margaret told me that this was shot sometime during the early 70's. I believe it was before Gaylord bought KTNT in the mid-70's. If any viewers recognize themselves on the show, I'll have an exact date. About once a year we get an e-mail from someone hoping to get arcive footage of themself on this show, but sadly this is the only clip that survive... as far as I know. I aways direct them to this clip, but so no luck.

  • @Bargerland I am on this show. I am the little gir in the yellow dress and white gogo boots..My mom was so suprised when I sent her the clip. I really made my day. I will have to see if I have my certificate from the show and get you the dates.

  • @dvmiller77 Thanks for the note. That's amazing that you found yourself on this show. This is the only recorded Romper Room from the Seattle area, so what are the chances. I'm guessing a few 1000 to 1. I've had so many people ask where they can find a video of themselves on the show, but I've never been able to help. If you have a guess what year this might be, I would appreciate it. If you give me your name, I'll put it into the description. But if not, that's okay. Thanks again.

  • @Bargerland I will see if I have the diploma tonight, but I am guessing it was 1972 or 1973. It was in the summer I believe. I even got to take my cat for show and tell on the show. It is too bad this is the ony clip left of the show. I would have loved to see others.

  • That is one KICKASS beehive!!

  • Nice 'Do Miss Margaret! :-D

  • a little trip in the middle of it all,,,i love it

  • I was heartbroken when Miss Elaine was replaced by Miss Margaret

  • She saw me!!!!

    She Really Saw me!!!

    LOL!

  • She has the bee-hive hairdo...how appropo!!!!! And she never called my name either.....waahhh!!!!

  • She used to make me so mad because she would never say my name!

  • WHOA.

    Her hair is INSANE.

  • Miss Margaret would look better in a black leather jacket and stiletto heels. It would go with that 50's greaser girl hardo of hers.

  • Miss Margaret has some nice legs. Would have kept me tuning in, lol.

  • She never called my name :(

  • That is one heavy hairdo...She's awesome.

  • what happened 2 the volume?

  • Once a little boy looked in the magic mirror and said; " I see dead people."

  • Chickie was sexy.

  • Whoa, I got a weird Twilight Zone feeling right at 1:46. I think this show might've been the precursor to The Tether cult.

Yep, my '60s schoolteachers tortured their self all day with high heels like Mrs Margaret here, lol.

  • look at that hair. im in love.

  • love the hair!

  • what year is this episode from?

  • Thanks for including the Bert Claster logo. I've been looking for ages for that.

  • Oh my! Excuse me while I watch these old clips while I should be working....

  • Thanks for such a prompt response! My mother, who is 78 and still living in Seattle, still insists that the main reason I got off to such a good start in school (I skipped kindergarten and read at a second-grade level while in first grade) was "because of Miss Elaine." I don't even know what her last name was, but if I ever meet her I guess I better give her my thanks!

  • A minor correction here. During the 1960s, Channel 11 was still KTNT-TV, owned by the Tacoma News-Tribune. It didn't become KSTW until the station was sold in the early 70s to an Oklahoma company.

Also a personal note: I grew up in Seattle and my twin sister and I faithfully watched Romper Room when we were very young in the late 1950s. The host then was "Miss Elaine" (I don't know the last name) who obviously preceded Miss Margaret...

  • Thanks for your note. I should know better. I have corrected the name on the clip. I have never come across any clips of Miss Elaine, but I remember watching her as well back in the late 50's. If you enjoyed this clip, make sure you watch the Miss Margaret backstory. She had some great stories to tell.

  • I had a letter from Miss Margaret taped to my bedroom wall in 1966. A boy from my preschool was on the show, and we all made pictures for him to give Miss Margaret. She sent back thank you letters.

    Thank you, Miss Margaret.

  • how many spiders in that hair do? lol.

  • This is crazy seeing my grandma on her!!! haha

  • If you enjoy that clip. Check out Miss Margaret's Backstory on Bargerland

  • GRANDMA LLOYD!!!

  • Good god!!Just look at that hair do(LOL)!!!

  • Miss Margaret! I remember her. She came to my the day camp at Dash Point in the summer of, oh, 1971, when I was five or six. I got to meet her and get her autograph. I remember being very nervous and shy, and her asking me if I spelled my name B-R-I-A-N or B-R-Y-A-N. Thanks for posting this, Bargerland! Got any Wunda Wunda videos?
