  • Anyone who knocks this kid is just plain stupid. If you have ever even attempted to play this instrument, you'd know what a tremendous accomplishment this is for a person of ANY age !!! To say it lacks feeling or the sophistication of an adult accomplished virtuoso is just ignorant. My hat is off to him. I'd love to hear him play at the age of 30.

    Dave Greenberg- Audio Engineer/Producer

  • I prefer Bert Jansch.

  • Mmmm - one the few uploads by Sungha that I've not been keen on. This arrangement seems to have been overlaid with unnecessary ornamentation. Compare Davy Graham's original or Bert Jansch's version (which DG didn't really like). Both are slower and follow a cleaner and clearer line melody-wise. This is nothing against Sungha's skill - it's the arrangement I'm talking about.

  • Brilliant right-hand technique --- hot stuff!

  • i hate when im playing guitar in front of my computer and than get side tracked and look at Sungha, than i put my guitar down... and sulk....

  • Well, what he meant when he said "Expression", is dynamics. Hes playing always the same audibility. LIsten to Bert Janschs version, he plays loud and gentle, not just one audibility. You know what i mean?

  • Guitar73 correct. Fast playing sometimes blows me away. But it doesn't work for all music. Listen to Davy playing the original. The notes are more clear hence more feeling.

  • So THIS is the best version on the net. FANTASTIC

  • do you enjoy doing this?

  • that's great :D

  • Guitar GAY STYLE! :D

  • BIG LIKE:!!!!!! THE BEST SUNGHA JUNG :x:x

  • @edd542, well-said! honestly, people need to listen a little more, and not just hear the music :)

  • Jazzy. I like it. I've heard and play the Jansch version. There's no triplet strumming up and down likes bert's rendition, but the chromatic lines are nice.

  • Superb performance.

So different to the past master performances yet unmistakably Anji.

  • i just leanrd anji on guitarr and i'm pretty proud of it but then i saw this guy i was like "-.- come on!"

  • Having seen Davey an Bert play Anji live many times, as much as i love and admire Sungha's playing this made me feel seasick paticularly the opening bass line , it sounds like it is being played elsewhere and on a different box.

  • Great to hear such a rendition of a British classic, Sungha! A pleasure to share the bill with you in Shanghai.

  • very much agree with the last comment - all the lights are on but no one's home!

  • All the right notes but none of the expression needed for Anji. Certainly a talented guitarist but it's good to slow down and listen for the emotion to go with the melody. Then you have a performance.

  • @guitar73girl Just because no emotion is shown doesn't mean its not there. You don't need to have a weird face looking like your screwing your instrument to have emotion.

  • @edd542 I think she meant that there is no emotion in the piece he is playing, rather than in the face of Sungha himself.

  • @edd542 Hes just taught by guitarists.. learns the tab, but knows nothing about the song.

  • @guitar73girl try playing it, see his vid compare it with your attempt and then look at the differences

  • @guitar73girl As an engineer/ producer with over 30 years of experience and over 15 million record sales under my built, I can only say this--- "You gotta be on crack girl. This kid is f---in' amazing. Cut some slack here and lose the jealousy- I have sweaters older than him!!! Way to go Sunghi!!!" D.G.

  • @guitar73girl what are you talkin bout? This kid's loving it. watch him move his head around you can tell he's thinkin 'awww yeahhh this is the business'. good version

  • wow....

  • this is the first video where i hear a messy-rushed arrangement nothing wrong or unmusical here but he changed A LOT of the original melody...

  • What i meant was, it is an advantage to have long fingers, not essential. My nephew is a good guitarist and he has not only short fingers, but only four on his fretting hand due to an accident.

  • This kid is amazing, but sometimes I want to kill him xD

  • best guitar cover ever!!!!

  • this is not normal!!!!!

  • this is not normal!!!!!!!!

  • since when is there a commercial on this video, 5 minutes ago there's wasn't any?

  • What camera do you use?

  • Apart from having an amazing gift, check out the length of his fingers. Most great guitarists have large hands. Makes it much easier to cover the fretboard .

  • @sinagong I don't know about that. Check out Andres Segovia's chubby fingers, and he's maybe the most renowned classical guitarist of the 20th century.

  • Hey shunga, you're so awesome you should play some flamenco like "Distancia para un duelo"

    Greetings :D

  • Are they alaska picks?

  • @finkployd4658 I think yes.

  • Superbe !!!

    a brilliant performer , great

  • yeahhhh

  • @TsengYang01 It isn't given to him... he just practises much

  • learning this song now.... keeping the walking baseline is a pain!

  • wow... kid... your a total jerk... this is an amaing ability to play. and to think hes going to continue to get better...

  • genios of technique!

  • Damn. Kid can play.

  • Mercy! for this moment,beautiful ..

  • How old was he when he played this

  • @treeradioproductions Thirteen. He was born in September of '96.

  • @IGotARight o thx I AM SO DARN JEALOUS ITS NO FAIR HE CAN PLAY REALLY HARD STUFF!!! AND IT SOUNDS SO DARN GOOD!! WHY WHY WHY

  • Davy would be Proud!

  • 確かに上手いけど・・ぜんぜん楽しそうじゃないですね。

    やっぱり音楽は楽しまないと!!

  • My guess is that he had to eat a million dogs to get to this point.....cause he's fucking asian

  • @AssholeRick69 ...You are really a retarded asshole to say that...

  • @vietcheesesteak And you suck donkey dick for quarters...I only speak the truth....asians eat dogs.

  • @AssholeRick69 .....Again...your screen name said it all....You don't know shit....Do all whitemen incest their offsprings to you?

  • @vietcheesesteak Do you fuck every gorilla you see on the street? I think yes.

  • @AssholeRick69 ..No I don't moron...you were the one who brought up the racist issue...Why don't you man up and tell it to an Asian guy about his race on the street then settle your issue.

  • Comment removed

  • @vietcheesesteak No an asian man would fucking eat my dog....he'd run away an cry and then try to eat my puppy when I am not home....and you fuck gorillas.

  • @AssholeRick69 ...Hey Asshole...grow a pair of balls then man up and come to Philly then talk tough with me...

  • @vietcheesesteak Philly is for fags.

  • i'm waiting this kid to cover Nick Drake's song, it would be interesting

  • Not a "carbon copy" a bit of improvising on the harder bits. Still very impressive.

  • This ist beautiful

  • WOW... mega schön! Du bist sehr talentiet...geh auf die Bühne..xD

  • anyone has this tab, plz share it :D

  • @danglang11 Why don't you just search for Anji tab? As far as I'm aware it's a well tabbed song.

  • sdp lgu

  • This cover is really, really great. :)

  • i think i might just give up guitar altogether........

  • I think China made this robot to show people how to play guitar , if not so ... OMG this guy is great --- THIS IS THE GUITAR GOD TOGETHER WITH TOMMY EMANUEL

  • You have an amazing talent :) wish I could play like that

  • Playing this a little more relaxed and with emotion would add a lot...

  • beeeeeee esas 47 personas q`no les gusta esto no

saben q es la musica en verdad

  • i like it OMG.....

  • @LeslieSmak Sungha is 14 now :)

  • that kid has been born with Lakewood guitar in his own hands...Thumbs up for a great guitarist!

  • 47 dislikes??some people are crazy...

  • @daemonsky95 Too freakin fast...that's why people probably dislike his version. The is a big difference between speed and finese.

  • workin the thumb. hell yeah. self tought or DIE

  • Tthat song isnt actually very hard to play, i dont say its very easy too. But playing it gives me real fun :)

  • Wel done !!:) Very Difficult;)

  • i can't help but find this anything more than a display of dexterity. he's exceptionally skilled, but for me the performance is devoid of emotional musicality and engagement. this may be an unfair observation, especially considering his age, and i didn't set out to be critical, i was looking for the song to link to someone.

  • @SylvanSpindrift

I think it is a bit harsh, he is too young to have developed emotionally enough to perform with soul.

He's very advanced, I'm sure the subtleties will come with maturity.

  • @avril2 you say i've been harsh but you seem to agree completely with my viewpoint. i would agree that subtleties require maturity, or experience, but that in accounting for this there is a risk of being patronising. after all, he is a prodigy.

  • @SylvanSpindrift You my sir are an idiot. Did you watch the whole thing?

  • @SylvanSpindrift Late reply, but I think avril2 is right. Of course, music always sounds better when played with emotion. But, as avril2 said earlier, the emotions and 'subtleties' will gradually sync with his abilities as he gets older. If you haven't already, I suggest taking a look at his later videos. He's starting to loosen up, and not look as serious, if you know what I mean.

  • Nicely played m'boy. Have a look at mine if you have the time! :)

  • I actually find it insulting that this video has more views than the original master that wrote this song DAVY FUCKING GRAHAM. one of the biggest underrated guitarists of all time

  • The Little Master ! What an inspiration to older folks & younger alike ! Awesome job.

  • Absolutely amazing!!

  • Dude it's a lot slower than that. And you're missing the "F" part of the descending bass line. And I'm pretty sure that that part at 1:49 is only in the Simon & Garfunkel version. Not Davy Graham's. I could be wrong though.

  • @esotericify "Arranged by Ulli Boegershausen" -- there in the introduction to the video. Maybe his thumb won't reach the low F. Ha. But heck, his hands are growing, growing - and he grabs the F# every time, so maybe Ulli Boegershausen didn't listen closely enough. And right - I'm sure he listened mostly to Paul Simon's cool version. Who knows...

  • 44 dislikes?!! I can't understand that people....

  • @FreeCandi Just one, your own plus lots of practice

  • Sungha,,,, Your an awesome young man. All I can say is Holy Cow!! I just started playing the guitar and damm it's very challenging. I think I'd better stay with the drums...

  • God I'm glad I don't play gitar! Some people should not have fingers.

    Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a genious..

  • amazing, smokes me out of my cave totally.... but its great to hear, i hope your name will be global in future if it aint already, pure talent

  • thats amazing.

  • Excellent performance! Clean sound...

  • I can play Anji ^^!

By the way I'm not good as Sungha!

  • @ibraninnho usually when people say that they mean it patronizingly but (no offence) im sure that he is better than the majority of people who view this vid lol

  • @ramsay97 Well, Anji is easier than a lot of other songs that he played...for example is impossible for me to play the arrangement of "Love of my life" by Queen and...yes he is surely better than a lot of people here LOL

  • i just have one thing to say "look kid put your hand right here on this door frame"

  • After watching this...I've just decided to give up!

  • July 21, 2010.... 43 dislikes??? This has to be one of the coolest and cleanest guitar riffs/songs I've ever heard... if you 'dislike' this then you cant possible be a guitar fan... thats all im saying... SJ you're unreal dude!!

  • july 21, 2010..... 43 dislikes?????? this has to be one of the coolest and cleanest guitar riff/song i've ever heard... if you dislike this.... you cant possibly be a fan of the guitar... that's all im saying...

  • I'm twice this kids age, but why can't i play like that?!

  • Go on young man. Follow your lucky way. You're walking on a bright light ray.

  • great potential here. the technique is well advanced; one doesnt know how interpretation will improve. all these things will come with maturity and practice and experience - but it's thanks to youtube that we see these musicians in embryo development.

  • @grimobo Lmao @ embryo development. listen to it dude. it's past that.

  • the beginning sounds like ulli's version of 'hit the road jack'

    doesnt it?

  • You rock !

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very fingerstylish version of this song!

  • wow

  • LOVE IT!!!!! Thanks

  • I really like this one! You should play some more up tempo stuff. I think you really excel there.

  • tu t'améliore à chaque vidéo, rajoute du chant pour te diversifier...

  • Arf ! The sound isn't good enough to appreciate his talent as it should be..

  • incredible

  • All I can do.. is Bow down and await your next post.

  • How many human souls must you obtain to hone this power?

  • 42 duh.

  • @FreeCandi Over 9000

  • @FreeCandi hahah funny shit

  • @FreeCandi 56

  • I still have my original Pye Golden Guinea LP by Davy Graham, on which I first heard this classic piece. For me, Davy's version remains the best - although Bert Jansch's tends to be most peoples' favourite. There seem to be several tweaks and changes in Sungha's version. In general these work (especially the sudden cut-off ending), but he does seem to be starting to play pieces rather too fast (listen to his version of 'Classical Gas'). I hope speed and technique aren't eroding emotion.

  • Maybe its because thats the first version I heard, but my favorite is still the one by Ulli Boegershausen (which sounds very similar to this one).

  • Probably because its arranged by Ulli Boegershausen. ^^

  • riiight, you should always read the info first :D

I suspected that much anyway, though.

  • the facial expression 2 minutes in is priceless, starting to see more of that from him. yep, I'm a fan, it's official.

  • Bert Jansch plays it the best, I think.

  • lots of practice!

  • @ketchuploverthebest

PRACTICE hours and hours of it! lol :)

  • gahaahhhahhah i wanna go see him at the concert in the US cause that's pretty close.. but.. sigh....

one day man.. ill see him perform live =-=

  • i hope i can play like you someday. your amazing.

  • Incredible!!!

  • I don't get you boy... You're a freaking genius!

  • Great job!

  • It did sound like he put quite some of the excitement into this for the upcoming journey.

  • not to say he doesn't play a lot of difficult songs, but watching this one made me think he's really stepped up his game in challenging himself to play harder and harder songs. Excellence is the quest of eternally improving, rather than any achieving specific goal. Sungha is that same definition of Excellence.

  • @kllrbny Couldn't agree more. I have been following Mr. Jung on youtube for a couple years now and his raw talent combined his passion has definitely raised the bar. I can not wait to see him play live and continue to grow his amazing talent and abilities as he grows into the STAR he is destined to become.

  • @kllrbny i dunno, some of his other songs are way harder than this.....this one is actually pretty easy

  • @kllrbny I can play this too its not soo hard....

  • he's a KOREAN..not a CHINESE.

  • you are the man sungha, no lies.

  • this is really good. well done!!

i was just wondering do you play any other instruments??

  • expreso109: I think he's taking drum lessons as well

  • oh man, bigger than a month ago. Haha, growing age.

  • does he have an album? cause i bare want one. His music is so chillin.

  • aww look at you you're growing up!

  • You are really good! Keep up the good work! :) :) :)

  • Hey, I have a song request!

Can you play Nickelback- Far Away

I think that would be a great song for you to play. Thank you :)

  • I think sungha looks for music that has a certain level of difficulty for guitarists. Nickelback just dosn't have that.

  • Well, i wouldnt say that.

I mean, MJs Billie Jean is pretty easy on the guitar, but the thing is that Mr. Jung plays the bass line, the lead riff as well as the voice melody all at once.

Personally, i can manage bass and lead riff and i find that hard enough, but to add the voice melody is just beyond me.

Sungha is very talented and could prolly blow us all away with any song he choses :D

  • I'd like to see him do Calliope House!:)

  • That's the beauty of fingerstyle~

  • 2 things: 1st he can't speak english, 2nd this isn't his channel, it's someone else who uploads vids for him.

  • his dad

  • Blaqoon:

this is technically his channel, because his fathe uploads his videos....

  • com to serbia

  • Good job Sungha!

  • Hey Sungha come to Paris ! ^^

  • <
