From the Boston Globe (Tuesday, November 2, 1993):
Strong chords and bold lines marked the debut yesterday of the new set on WHDH -TV (Ch. 7). A manhunt for escaped prisoners and a shooting rampage in New Hamsphire were on the agenda for all three local stations, but the stories fit right in with the fast-paced and somber tone Channel 7 has adopted.
A new logo -- a silver numeral 7 in a silver circle -- swirled on a blue background as red and orange lines darted on the screen while an announcer said, ''Live, from WHDH -Boston, this is 7 news at 5:30.'' The melodramatic chords that accented his words were just that -- chords -- and could hardly be called a theme song.
Great clip. Thanks for posting. This aired on Wednesday, December 1, 1993.
From the Boston Herald (12/2/1993):
"Fifty employees at the sprawling West Bridgewater distribution center for Chadwick's of Boston were sent to three area hospitals last night when noxious fumes spread through the complex, authorities said."
This had to be after '94 - thats when the format switched. Sunbeam bought 7 in summer of 93, but it was after the New Year they went from News 7 to 7 News.
R.D. Sahl felt the same way, and promply left 'HDH shortly after the date of this clip. For the record, this was at least January '94, which is when the new tabloid news format (and station look) kicked in.

It seems Chadwicks served boston baked beans in the cafeteria that day.... thus the late afternoon fumes....

I worked as a temp at that Chadwicks in the summer of 1992 & 1993. Don't recall any overpowering fumes while I was there.

Appearently, it made him lose alot of hair too, his hair is whiter than it is in the "Late Edition" video from 1990.
