Looking forward to your build video(s). [Come on. You know you're going to do it.] Question: Any reason a rear door wouldn't work on the current design? Seems like it would ease loading/unloading of larger pots.
@mmolus - while a rear access door is good, the problem with the 60/30 oven is that there are two "backs" depending on the position of the oven. In this video, it is in summer position, which I use for cooking from about April to mid-October. Then it flips over to winter position from mid October on to April. That means that the back now becomes the bottom - or the bottom becomes the back. So, you would need to put two doors in this oven, which might be a bit tricky - that's my story! Ken.
Man your stove ,oven is awesome, just need some wheels to follow the sun...I live in sweden n we dont have no sun ,too much chemtrails n very low sun in these times, will work very well in tthe garden n on the balcony n in third world countries..keep up the good work Ken ....may you be well n happy,One Love
@patricksalis - Hi and thanks for watching. Clouds are OK, as long as there is more sun than cloud. I have cooked many times with cloudy intervals with good success. It takes longer and temps are generally lower, but average heat is good and the oven is insulated. The effect of clouds is more pronounced in colder climates and of course, in the winter. Ken.
Great video. Thanks. Please continue with your next one as i'm keen to see you make one from scratch. It does not get as cold here in Abermain NSW Australia so it would be interesting to see how it will go.
@mrshammerhankus - thanks for that. I hope to get this build-it video done this spring/summer if I ever get the time to do it. I apologize for not getting it done last year. Ken.
Hi - I was trying to send solar oven plans to Kristina in Florida, but the email keeps bouncing back. If you read this note, Kristina, can you please send me another email account for you, as the one that you are using (embarqmail I think) does not work from my account. Maybe you could open a gmail account and send me an email from there - I know gmail works OK - Thanks, Ken.
Will you do the instructional video series? Please do! I'm also looking into building a similar design out of plywood and metal sheeting. I intend to use glass-wool as insulation. If i can't obtain better reflective mylar, i will use tinfoil and an emergency blanket. What do you think?
living in Australia this is a great idea I've often pondered doing myself but can rarely find the time. Great work on your model, looking forward to seeing how you put it together!
Really appreciate all your informative videos! It would be great to see a series on constructing the oven. I plan to build one soon and think your design looks like the best of all I've seen so I'd like to get more details. Thanks...
Seeing a video of an actual good solar oven being made would be great! Just an idea I had while watching this. Nebraska has some violent weather. (winds in excess of 70kph today) ... what if you built it on a wagon, so it could be rolled into a shed when not in use. (also make it easier to make it bigger) And locking grab handles to adjust the tilt? You videos got me thinking....
I can't tell you enough how much I would love to see a video series of you constructing the new Solar Oven. I'm a Cajun Chef, I not only teach children how to cook but I also teach them how to construct things from materials which are previously used / discarded and how the recycled construction process works. I would love to build one of these ovens and teach the children not only the construction process but how to cook with nothing but the energy from the Sun.
@LaCoinDog i saw this video on two pots- the smaller one set within the larger one, filled with sand, continuously wet sand seemed to be the most important variable, place food in smaller pot, cover pot-they only covered pot with a flimsy piece of fabric, supposedly this concoction keeps foods preserved in a cool climate in hot regions, they were clay pots,,,i dont know if that was a reason why they worked, it was never mentioned
@mrshammerhankus - clay pots are porous and that is what makes them work to cool the inside. They used this method in ancient Egypt to cool water. They would put the water in large clay jugs. The water would soak through to the outside and the jugs were fanned by workers which would evaporate the water and draw heat from the water inside. A crude method of refrigeration that apparently worked quite well. Ken.
I would like to see it too. it should work well for our winter. its not as cold as yours, late august here it would be about 14.celc plus.and being in southern hemisphere down south makes it colder. my brother in cairns gets warm weather all year round.
how good are these at boiling water or would a small parabolic dish work best for this.
Hey there! YES, make a video on how you built yours. I didn't have a video camera or software to edit pieces together when I was building mine. I always tell people if you are going to build a solar oven, MAKE IT BIG so you can have better options and flexibility. I love my big oven, but want a much bigger one. Keep up the great work!
Hi, are you going to making another one with a vid? I say yes pleaseeeeeeeeeee. If not would love the plans. Thanks a million, great vid!

Superior video. Should time avail, and energy abound, a cooker build video would certainly be appreciated and utilized.
