Patong Beach isn`t so good for swimming as there are so many power boats all over the place...the best thing about Phucket is over the top night life.

Patong Beach is fantastic..the only bad point about the resort is the numerous tailors..there are far too many of them! I've been all over Thailand, and I have never had so much trouble with them and their "over the top" sales techniques as I had in Patong!!

i just came back from phuket 2 days ago and i had a blasttttt, most amazing/beautiful place ive ever been, im taking a new bunch of friends same time next year... lets just say that phuket hasnt seen the last of me.

oh and i stayed at phuket graceland.. heaps good hotel.. check it out!

Phuket sucks!! Ive been to Thailand 4 times, the last time was 2006 and I will never go again, its just swarming with dirty old men and hookers who literally harass you for sex. This may sound attractive, but when you see them doing the same to a fat, bold dude who is 75, it looses its appeal. Your much better off going to Vietnam or Cambodia if you want to chill on a beach, its like Thailand was 15 years ago.

Im going there for the first time in 2 weeks. Its an 11 hour flight from NZ but i still cant wait to go. Ive only heard good things about Phuket. Is it worth going over to Phuket town or is everything you need in Patong?

I hope its not to hot either LOL ... but it probably will be.

It should be around 33 degrees celsius in March.

Phuket town itself is nothing to write home about IMO but check it out for cheaper shopping away from the tourist areas. It's only a short taxi ride away.

I was there November 07.. Really nice beach i must say! ^^ 2 weeks of pure freedom. Too bad that the flight TO Phuket was like 12 hours -_- (sweden)
